trunk rack

Hello everybody I've made the jump from my 1600 nomad to a 2016 1700 voyager this weekend and now i'm looking for some advice on a trunk rack that looks good on the bike. I seen some pics of racks that are very tall and not to my taste but also seen some pics of racks that look like they were made for the bike but not a single web site has a direct fit for the voyager so what are you guys using for a trunk rack? If possible pics would be nice. Mike

Thanks but the cobra is one of those company's that say it will not fit a 2016 model and looking at some pictures i'm not to crazy about the tall aft supports. I really don't care if it slops back following the form of the trunk as long as i can strap a bag onto it. I see your from Enfield, i bought my bike their from a guy who lives just down the road from the kaw dealership. I'll probably be back their this Sunday. After i find a rack the next step is to find a bag that i can strap to it, the bigger the better.

mike58, checkout this thread:

Luggage Rack

It has pics of my install. I have been very happy with this rack. I just got back last month from a 3600 mile trip with a dry bag that weighed 15 lbs. on it the whole time and no problems.

I have the rack made for a Yamaha Venture on mine. It was a direct bolt on. Just mark the holes and drill. Simple install.

Thank you guys very much i would not have found the Yamaha rack on my own and reading the reviews on amazon it is Voyager people buying them and say it fits without adjustment. I like the legs all welded into one piece look. From the web page JD Hog led me to their is some good pics of the cobra rack on a 2015 voyager and i find it interesting the places that sell it will say it will not fit these bikes but their obviously wrong.

The link from JD Hog was to a Kury rack not a Cobra rack. Cobra trunk racks are not tubular like the Kury rack, but laser cut and formed from flat stock.

If you notice, the Kury rack has multiple riser sizes. If you want it low, you should be able to get it pretty low. Look at the pics on the Kury page.

I see that the Cobra rack is supposed to fit any Voyager before 2015. Did Kawi change the truck in 2015?

Sabre-t if you look down the page from the JD Hog link you will see the pics of the cobra on a 2015 voyager posted by someone else and as you said about the years they fit, i think the advertisement for this rack just needs to be updated on these sites. I'm leaning towards the Yamaha rack i like the tubular over the flat stock and the welded legs over the clamp on legs of the Kury. In my spare time I'll be searching the internet for a picture of a Yamaha rack on a voyager.

IMO the cobra looks best and is especially made for the voyager, so the fitment is excellent. Most other are universal and the fitment is not the best.

Mine is a 2015 model and here you'll find the pics :

Ah, I see it. Thanks. I like the look of a tubular rack better, too.

I think Cobra needs to update their info. It seems that every site I found that has that rack has the same issue with the years.

One other comment on the Yamaha rack - it has 2 support bars (one outside trunk, one inside the trunk) to support the rack. Top support is Chrome, Bottom - not so much.

Note - When you finally decide on which rack. Put Masking Tape all over the trunk top. Have a helper hold whatever rack you buy and make sure it's where you want it. Mark the masking tape, Measure twice - You get ONE CHANCE at drilling the holes.
