Thinking About Jumping Ship

No I'm not talking about selling the Nomad or the MeanStreak.

I think they'll be a part of me forever.

But, I'm going to look at a 2013 Concourse14.

Before you start all of the snickering, let me give you something to work off.

Like Ricky Bobby said, I wanna go fast.

I can't go much faster than the MS without dumping big time $$ into one of the V-twins.

The Connie is basically a 1400 Ninja with bags.

There are lots of long straight roads here in south Florida to go fast on.

I'll let y'all know if I add a new child.

And since hurricane Irma, absolutely nothing else.

My first choice was the Connie. I Just love that motor. But after I sat on the Vaquero I just could not do it. I was to bent over to be comfortable. But a great bike, I did a lot of research on them. And What a way to tour, real style. You will most likely Love it.

You should also test drive a Yamaha FGR1300. Fast, comfortable, cruise control, and looks great. I don't think the Concour has cruise control, but is a great bike sport touring also.

MT if you want it go for it. Waste no time your not getting any younger. Hell, I'm thinking of getting a KLR 650 for the winter so I got something to play with. I ran across this song and man I immediately thought of you. This is your theme song mate.

I could tell you and Almost guarantee you that once you get the connie the nomad and mean streak will be collecting dust. I liked my Nomad, upgrade it to a Voyager but really regret selling my c-14. Only advange i see over the c-14 is comfort. You are a bit more relax on the cruiser(obviously) but as far as touring/speed nothing will come even close.

The Connie is like a bar room cutie. Good for a quickie and a fast time. Telling people how hot she is. The Nomad is more like the heavy set girl that needs your love. She will give you all that your heart desires and is in it for the long haul. Hours of pleasure. At the end of the ride you want to sit back on her and have a smoke while rubbing her tank gently.

They don't have their power back yet.

So I'll look at it next week.

I owned a 2012 Concours 1400 from '12 to '15. I put 30,000 miles on it and sped through 24 states on that bike! It loves 90 to 120 mph. It will hit 90 in second gear.

Most riders go up one size on the rear tire if they do a lot of twisty roads. It is definitely designed for high speed straight line stability.

I traded for a Triumph Trophy SE because I wanted cruise control, electronic suspension, and better curvy road handling. I waited for Kawasaki to update the bike to compete with the other sport tourers but it is still the same today.

I've had a Connie 14, and they are definitely fast and handle great. Loved mine.

I went from a Voyager to a Yamaha FJR 1300 and despite making several comfort mods I always felt beat up after a ride. Sold it after 3,000 kms and bought a 1300 Yamaha V Star. No regrets.

My partner has a C14 and I can speak to its absolutely face-deforming acceleration. If you are wanting fast while still being able to carry something larger than skinny wallet this is a good machine for you. The biggest shortcoming, in our eyes, is the lack of factory cruise control. There are aftermarket units but they can be a nightmare to install as so many of the bike's systems are involved. The FJR1300 is also a fine machine, a coworker has one, and if you don't mind a minuscule dealer network BMW and Ducati both make very nice sport-touring bikes as well.

I am nOT aware of a Ducati sport touring bike. If you are thinking multistrada, it falls in the adventure touring genre.

While I certainly do not own one I have never considered the Multistrada to be an Adv Touring bike. Certainly night in the class of the R1200GS or something like that. It's certainly more adapted for real-world roads than other Ducatis however.
