Rear tick mark alignment is important. - I had a Dealer tech put the left tick mark just to the right of the third mark, and the left tick mark just to the right of the third mark.
Tire was off center and bike wandered bad. When I got it home I found it and corrected it myself.
FYI - It should be just to behind (or in front) the tick mark on both sides - If you think about it it will make sense.

Using the ratchet strap to pull the wheel forward ensures the axle is against the front side of both adjusters.
All of the Above is great information. Thank You, I can see how the alignment could be compromised with the belt tension. One Question= where is a safe place to Place the ratchet Strap??

I just ran the strap though the wheel and placed the hooks on the bottom of the frame just ahead of the exhaust crossover pipe. Don't need it fiddlestring tight, just snug it enough to pull a little forward.

Ok - I've reread the thread and I'm off to check/adjust my belt. I feel a little slop in my drive train and I'm guessing it's a little loose.
I will try the Ratchet strap thing to pull it snug while I tighten the axel to the required 80 ft/lb's.

My Nomad belt is always a little left. They should be tight 9mm max deflection. Mine never feels like it's kicking out - takes off straight & fast. BUT, after sitting a few days, the tires do have a flat spot that effects performance till they heat up. I ride daily & park on carpet in my garage, so I don't always notice it. But I'd guess that a tire that sits a long time & ages may not recover as well. I do miss center stands. Btw, my Commander 2s do much better mileage & over 10k miles than soft, sticky Dunlops that hugged the road, but lumped up when sitting. I'd guess a kicking out feel has more to do with shocks. Imo.

Mine hangs to the left also, but that is a topic for another forum.

But seriously, do you think the commander tire does not hug the road as well as the Dunlop?

Well I tightened up the belt - after a trip to Harbor Freight to buy a 27mm wrench. I have only ever tightened the rear axle when changing a rear tire. I remove the shocks and jack up the rear tire so I can get a socket on the axle nut. Can't use a socket without removing a bunch of stuff. - Now I have a wrench.

Anyway, it was loose. moved about 4 of the graduation marks on the belt guard. I adjusted to about 2 marks and an easy finger pushing the belt. Rides better, less slop when on and off the throttle.

Tires: I've used several rear Commander II's when they first come out. I did not care for the Scalloping and side traction on tar snakes and wet. I had it slip once. Now could that have done that on whatever tire I have on there - Absolutely! Soon after that slip on a worn Commander I switched to the Metzler 888. I liked that tire, Front and Rear. I wore one out on my 2013 Voyager and put a new one on it days before I traded it for the 2014. (Bad Timing).

After the first Bridgestone on the 14 I did the Metz 888 and then tried the Dunlop American Elite. I'm on my second Dunlop. Never had the Metz or the Dunlop step out. (I lie, I hit some tar snakes when it was hot and almost lost her on a double tar snake hairpin). I noticed today that at 9000 miles I have lot's of tread left on the Dunlop, but it's starting to Scallop pretty good. I got 15,000 out of my last Dunlop.

Tires are a never ending challenge for me.

Did you need the ratchet strap to make the alignment?? and hold the lines on the rear swing arm??

I did not use the straps.

But I've got it so it's tight enough that it sings to me. I really liked it quiet, May loosen it back up a tad.

In search of perfection - I was close, but I screwed it up! Maybe next time.
