Stereo Purchase

So I am Looking into a stereo upgrade for my Vaquero and saw this.

Dual AM505BT
Marine digital media receiver with built-in Class D amp (55 watts RMS x 4) dual am505bt.jpg

It even has an input for a back up cam. IMG_20170708_143619502_HDR.jpgThat is why I want a back up cam.

I'm thinking Amp built in and with Randy's wire pack and face plate . Then the PAC SWI-RC ,and speakers I'm done.

But I remember reading something about Class D amps. I do not remember if that was good or bad. Since this is a all in one unit I don't think it matters?

Class D amplifiers can interfere with radio reception, is that what you're thinking of?

For the most part, Dual radios are junk. They're bottom of the line stuff. (I've had a couple and wouldn't buy that brand again.) If it were me, I'd save my money and buy a better brand. The price is ok but for $100 or so more, you can get much better quality. I'd also question the advertised amp rating. 600W? Maybe technology has come a LONG way since I bought an amp but I'd find it hard to believe someone can stick a 600W amp in a tiny radio case when you've got other electronics in there already. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. (FWIW, I'd stay away from Boss brand, too.)

I agree but, what Brand/Model has these/most of these features. I have not seen one. 55w rms per channel , 3"video screen, MARINE. ( and I know that it will not be water proof)

It is slim pickings out there. For single din units. Add EnRock, Lazar and Pyle to the crappy list, too.

Kenwood marine unit says:Conformal Coating *1
*1: Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat or humidity. Also avoid places with too much dust or the possibility of water splashing.

That is comforting

kenwood marine grade radio is what a lot of guys are running, they actually just released a new marine version that is supposed to be much easier to see during the day and in direct sunlight. also class D amps are better suited for our smaller charging system.

Yep, class D amps are highly efficient, so they use less power (and therefore create less heat waste) to achieve the same result as other classes. The interference they produce is a result of high frequency switching, which is what makes them so efficient. The amount of interference they produce is directly related to the quality of the output filter. A well designed filter will eliminate almost all of the interference.

Bottom line, it is the quality of the class D amp that is important, not that it is class D.

PLEASE KEEP THE INFORMATION COMING. And thank you for all the options EVERY ONE has valid information and experience that will help me make a well informed decision.

My last stereo I installed was an ENROCK, In Know it was cheap and actually lasted for a few years. But it took an SSD which stays in place better than a USB. I'm really a radio guy since I get board with my own music selections. That is why I had the concerns with the Class D amp stuff.

Hog Tunes or Kickers??? for speakers, I'm going with 5 1/4" I do not want the risers.

Hey Mike,
I went with the Hog Tunes and wasn't disappointed, ditto on the risers.
Put some pics up when you decide on the stereo...or it didn't happen :-).............M

I had the kicker 5.25 and px100.2 it was loud and clear but lacked bass, could have easily been the way I had the frequencies set up.

There's a reason the better brands don't put all that in their products. You can't put 10 lbs of shit in a 5 lb box and make it reliable. This applies to about everything out there.
The more features something has more chances of a problem. If you go with separate components, one parts goes bad, you don't have to replace all of it.
I know the wiring gets more complicated, if you can't do it, pay someone that can.
If you can't afford it now, save up to do it right. If money's tight you can't afford cheap, it will cost you more in the end. JMHO

I have a 1400W 4 speaker Shark radio, sounds great for the price. I don't have a batwing so I am limited on what I can install.

Kenwood

Edit- just saw you wanted a backup camera?? Not so sure how that would work on a motorcycle- nor a single din radio... ???

You may want to take a look at a product called "Joying" they make Android Based Radios...

Look on Amazon for

kenwood KMRM312BT Marine Digital Media Receiver

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also ass this-

https://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KCA-R...8&pd_rd_r=GCT3

$100 or less for the radio... Thats what I am running on my Venture- had it for over 2 years. Does not have a CD Player but it is marine grade and has everything else... Pandora, Bluetooth, Iheart, and a good receiver... Only downfall is reading the screen in sunlight.

Add the display remote and you can read that..

They have newer models since the 312 but they appear to be cheaper.. not sure what they lost...

Also Class D amps are usually your 4 channel amps. THey mostly concentrate on clear mids and highs... with a fair amount of bass...

The 1 ch amps are the ones to stay away from... all bout bass... and amps to power it.
