1500 engine swap

Ok I know , there's a million threads on swapping engines ... Sorry

But , What I can't find the answer to is which years . Will all 1600 motors fit in my 01 1500 . Should I stick with a nomad or classic engine or will a mean streak fit as well ? Any benefits from one or the other ?

Will I also need the shaft drive or will the one I have fit ?

Again thanks for the help !!!

All 1600 motors up to 2008 should work.

Thanks Ring , I was aware you had done swap and was hoping you would enlighten me on this . My 1500 has some small issues that aren't worth repairing so I thought I'd go this route instead .

Did you notice any improvement in power and torque going from 1500 to 1600 ? Does the 100 cc's make much of a difference .

I read through the thread that recumbentbob posted , by the way " Thanks " Not sure what the A model is , so I'll have to make sure I don't buy one of those .

I liked the 1500 motor better, it seemed to have a little torque , and revved smoother.
The 1600 feels lazy in comparison, not much more, but noticeable, the mileage was also slightly better on the 1500. Other than that they are the same. I,m sure that with a fuel processor installed the 1600 would wake up and be a lot perkier.
I'd try to find another Nomad Motor as my first choice, I like the dual stators for the charging system. Next would be a Meanstreak motor because they have a little more power.

Thanks for all the info you have provided Ring . It's much appreciated .

Now I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to go ahead with this . I do know that I will not be doing this swap myself so if I can't find someone to do it I'll probably just sell the bike and look for something that will please my desire . There's a surprisingly amount of 1600 Nomads out there for sale here with very low km . I may just end up buying one and start customizing it myself . I have all winter to decide . I'm not even sure I'll be able to ride next spring unless the knee heals quickly .

Thanks for the # . I'll take you up on that call if I decide to go through with the swap .
