Vaquero XM radio feedback

Does anyone have good/bad feedback on XM radio on the Vaquero? Won enough on a scratch ticket the other day to cover the $400+ cost but wondering how the quality is. Does that antenna really function? Wondering if my larger windshield will affect reception any?

Thanks

Let me get this straight, you won the lottery and can now afford the XM radio.

That's exactly how I feel about their price point on that thing :(

Sorry no help to the OP, but I am with Jay.... refuse to pay $400 for the unit. It isn't that I can't afford it, I just refuse to be ripped off. Maybe if I won the lottery, but think it would have to be a multimillion dollar win before I would consider it. If I was to get that crazy, I may even splurge and buy a harley...well, probably not LOL

I don't know about the XM but a new set of infinity speckers and a set of power pucks will do wounders for your stero sound. Thats all I know about that.

If you are considering spending that kind of money for the XM alone, why not spend a little more and get it along with GPS with a Zumo 665?

I've got a Zumo 550 I'm happy with. And I like the idea of controls on the handlebars...

It is crazy expensive option....

I'd really like to know if we can somehow hook up this kit from Best Buy, at $69.99 it would be an affordable alternative. I can't imagine Kawasaki taking the effort to make something proprietary, but then again, maybe they did and that's why they want US to pay for it.... ??? I guess it depends on what functions are in the radio, and which ones are in the XM tuner.

The Kawasaki part:

The question that likely leads to the answer we all want is "who makes the radio and what is the model?" That could lead us to alternate sources of add-ons. That said, I haven't a clue!

I haven't had my fairing apart (that much) to have seen any markings. Next time we see someone talking about starting a project, lets get them to look for any clues!!! :)

A for Effort It was worth a shot. I know there are some really technical guys around here, maybe someone will be motivated enough to figure out a work-around, and share/sell it to us all. Or maybe one of our members near Louisville, KY can become a mole and work their way into the Radio-Sound circle for some deeper recon....

I'll keep dreamin'

I guess the next step is to figure out what other radios this XM tuner is marketed for. Possibly it's cheaper under a different name????

I hooked my radio up easily, All those sat receivers transmit on fm , Im using the sportster model the only thing I had to do was fabricate a bracket , run a power line and route the antenna wire ( antenna is mounted to the handle bars with 2 sided tape. The unit works perfectly and is mounted to the top of the dashboard pics to follow........

I have a sirius sportster as well and had considered doing this. I currently move it from mounts in my car and truck, and only pay the one subscription of course which is an added benefit. Would have no problem using it on a 3rd vehicle, but had concerns about rain, and it would be one more thing have to remove from the bike when leaving it, or worry about it being stolen.

Looking forward to seeing your pics
