Brake pads

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I don't come down here too much, and I can't use the search feature here for much of anything.

I need some rear brake pads, where is the best place to get them, and what do I look for?

I have an 06 1600

Thanks

Hi Dan,

You can locate the parts catalog for the exact Nomad you have here:

http://www.kawasaki.com/DefaultFrame.asp....HOWVEHTABS%3d1

I assumed you have a VN1600G6F (Vulcan 1600 Nomad) (2006) and found the following illustration that shows the part's number for the rear break pad assembly.

https://www.kawasakiepc.com/SSIConve...72205_3701.png

I'm sure other members will give more practical info. Hope this helps.

Thank you, I'll edit the original post to state that it is an 06 1600.

I'll check out the links.

Ive used the EBC pads they work well but make a slight buzzing noise compared to the silent OEM pads.

Ringadingh,

I don't mean to hijack the thread, just a quick one: where did you get your chrome side covers?

Cheers,

E.

I've seen them on E-Bay. Go to the Kawanow home page and click on the e-bay link there, it will take you to all 700 plus Nomad items.

I didn't know such a thing existed on the home page, I'll go see what it is. My bookmark is set to the forum, and I never even see anything else. Thanks for the tip.

Those on E-bay are for '99 thru '04 models. Better check for fitment before buying. I too would like to have a set, but only if it is specific for '05-'08. My bike is '06.

I had chrome side covers on my bike. They are the same ones that fit a Suzuki. Hey, I'm tellin' ya, it's true.
I got them fom Dennis Kirk. I don't have a catalog right now but you can probably find them on their website.

I've been buying parts for a while from www.cheapcycleparts.com. You can search for OEM or after market parts on their site. Every time I compared prices with other places they ended up being cheaper, the shipping is prompt, and if you have questions you can call them, they are knowledgeable and easy to deal with.

Dan..the right front brake pads are the same as the rear pads. Spend the extra coin and get the EBC pads. I just installed all 3 sets while on a road trip..I ride very aggressively thru the twistys and they are a huge improvement over stock! Very easy to install, and the price wasn't bad...144 bucks cdn. for the parts...Bdog
