Winter grille covers

Since I live in the frozen Northern part of Canada, it takes time to warm up the truck and keep it warm while driving, so I decided to check out winter grille covers. In Canada they have limited items for a newer truck like mine and want around 250 bucks for them. To order from the States is costly too because of shipping and duty. Anyone that has them, all have the same..boring..so I decided to make my own. It took about 6hrs to make at a cost of around 30 bucks and they are one of a kind. The driving lites mounts I couldn't find so had to make them up too. Since I travell a lot just to get to work(around 200 miles each way), I now travell with constant heat and great vision at nite time..happy camper..Bdog

Looks nice Bdog. Probably a little too much cover for our area as compared to the frigid North that you are in.

Real nice job Bdog.
Here in NY State I have seen canvas covers guys use for that purpose. They zip so you can control how much cold air you block.

Nice work, so did you use stainless? What for brackets? Looks like they have been bent in a brake? If you can get ahold of some V-Force lights you would be really set up. Think the new Vision brand may be a good option also haven't used them.

Winter grille covers

Looks really nice. A trick my father taught me many, many years ago is to put parts of cardboard box in front of the radiator. It definitely helped heat up the cars back in the 50s and 60s. Very inexpensive also.

I used 6061 aluminum. For brackets I machined up some inserts. No I don't have a brake but I did make up a jig.
