Depends on what is on it. With bugs, I wet a towel with hot water and lay it on the windscreen for 15 minutes. They I can use any type of plastic cleaner on it afterwards. The hot moist towel softens up the bugs and makes it an easier and safer job.

I spray lemon Pledge on mine, it softens even the most baked on bugs off fast. Then wipe it with a clean microfiber towel.

I use a product called Bugslide. You can also use on paint and chrome.

Everyone uses their own technique. I use a warm towel and let it rest on the windshield for a few minutes. Then I put drops of Dawn on it and rub the whole surface with my fingertips. When I have disolved all the debris I rinse and buff dry with a micro-fiber towel.

This is based on recommendations from the local International Plastics tech.

Warm wet towel layed on to melt the bugs. Lift it off don't drag it. Some bugs have pretty hard bits. Follow-up with a very wet towel side to side or up and down, never circular 'cause that leaves swirls. I now clean with Novus #1 because my shield on the fairing is acrylic. Joy was also recommended for cleaning.

The newer polycarbonate coated windshields are tougher but the same applies.

I was using Lemon Pledge with a microfiber cloth. The Pledge softens up even the messiest bugs and cleans up nice, but I had to stop using the lemon scented stuff - it attracted bees by the dozens.

Actually, I'm not too worried about my windshield anymore. After installing my new Cee Bailey's and seeing the quality, plus considering the price, if the screen gets too scratched up in a year or two I'll just throw it away and get another.
