TC,

You ever ride out in the Rockies on cycle?

No Bull, I have never been out that way.
I have only ridin in the Northeast and Southeast.
One of these day I plan to get out tword the mid and west coast.
We do have the Adirondacks and the Catskill Mountains here. They are pretty scenic.
I enjoyed the rides at the National in Maggie Valley also.

This link shows that all but 11 states honor or reciprocate with Louisiana's concealed carry permit. LA is also an open carry state. When LA made it legal for trustworthy "gunslingers" to carry a concealed weapon, violent crime in New Orleans fell over 60% because the bad guys didn't know who was carrying and who wasn't. Crime is up, way up, in New Orleans again because nearly all of the legal gunslingers have left the jungle for a safer haven. Now, the bad guys are killing each other in mass volumes which really isn't a problem for the cops, prosecutors, or the few good people that have chosen to stay. As Bill stated, violent crime among those legally carrying is nearly non-existent. You can't get a permit with a questionable past. Not here anyway. I don't feel any more macho when I'm carrying than when I'm not. I just feel safer along with the friends or family that are accompanying me.

Sure, we have all these problems in Canada. That's where the cops come in. Our Mounties always get the bad guys
I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Oh, not me no more. I'm above the fray of the gun totin' cowboys. I thing I'll do the Noble, Christian duty and donate all my fire arms to Mexican drug gangs (in Mexico) in an effort to make it seem like legitimate American firearms dealers and gun shows did it.

From now on, at the half way mark, all my glasses will look half empty.

The next job interview my answers to problem solving questions will be "I'm to wise to prepare for adverse situations and rely on others to solve problems for me.

I have to go on facebook now and look up a bully from school and return the milk money he so nicely tried to kick my ass for.

Hope I wasn't to macho for anybody. :-[ :-/

Again, situational awareness makes a huge difference. Criminals look for a mark that has their head up their ass. If you know what is going on around you and have a confident attitude, that makes a huge difference. Also, even if you carry, it doesn't mean you have to use it. I had two incidences where I carried where I was bothered but used attitude to get out of it. NYC was a good training ground for dealing with all sorts of aholes...And the fact I wasn't completely legal factored in as it is almost impossible to get a CCW there. I chose to leave it as a last resort in those cases. In my opinion, if you do everything right and the criminal still procedes, either you are dealing with a very determined and/or crazy person. All of this can happen in a very short time too. If you do carry though, you need to be resolved that if the sh!t hits the fan, that you can and will do it. If you aren't, don't carry.

For me, I like having the option, but I very rarely carry. Iowa is a lot mellower than NY. ;)
