Any tips on factory handle bar removal mainly the grips and controls?

When I take handlebars off I hang 2 ratchet straps from the rafters in the garage and suspend the bars from the straps. Then install the new bars and transfer the grips and controls while the old bars are still hanging on the straps.

Put a blanket on the gas tank before you start.
