seems like the clutch doesn't disengage all the way. Shifting up seems to grind a little in all gears, downshifting is fine. any ideas?

Sounds like may need to rebuild the clutch master cylinder and/or the slave cylinder?

Before you spend time and money re-building the cylinders, try a cheap fix. Bleed the line in whatever manner you normally do. Then, pull the clutch lever back toward the handle bar, leaving maybe a quarter inch of space, and then tie it in that position. Leave it overnight and see if that fixes your issue. Leaving it under pressure will force any air trapped in the system into the clutch reservoir where it causes no harm. Same process works for brakes.

Check you clutch handle adjuster. See where the setting is. If it is not on 1 then set it back to 1. See if it helps. If still the same then go on to step 2 as mentioned.

It's weird seems like my bike work perfect cold as it warms up it doesn't disengage.. I went out after I wrote this first post after my bike cooled down restarted it and the clutch worked perfectly again... Almost like it gets too hot and "flashes" my fluid until it cools down again...I guess I'm going to get a braided cable, MC rebuild, Sc rebuild and some of the high temp dot 5.1.. and totally redo it all

When cold clutch works well, when riding, start to lose clutch. Very similar symptoms when front bevel bearing is going out. Bad bearing causes hydraulic fluid to heat up in slave cylinder causing loss of clutch. Just a thought.

Start by changing the fluid.

Guys save yourselves a lot of frustration and read this thread thoroughly, then remove the MC, and clean thoroughly especially that tiny return hole in the bottom. Refill with DOT4 and bleed well. If that doesn't work rebuild or replace both MC and slave. Be careful with the MC. There is a snap ring that holds the piston in. It is deep in the MC and hard to get to. Use long nose snap ring pliers. The rebuild kits are on Ebay for cheap. Good Luck.

My 02 was getting a special spongy feel. Changing fluid and bleeding would get it back.
When I put the 12” higher bars on I put steel braided line. Instantly it was fixed.
I think my hoses were getting spongy. They were 10 years old.
The brakes and clutch are much improved with the new lines.
