I have wondered a lot about this too.
I think the analogy of the shopping cart wheel best describes the phenomenon. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_wobble)

I have only read of one two-up wobble, the rest were solo, so I have another question for those who have wobbled.

Did you have any modification or loads that would have changed the front-to-back load distribution such as fairings, trunks or heavily packed saddle bags?

Slamming on the front brakes fairly hard has always worked for me, except for the last time.

Maybe you that have experianced the "wobble" could elaborate on the conditions at the time. (a flat deck semi, or enclosed trailer, approx speed of semi, wind conditions. Do you have a fairing, factory lowers or aftermarket. Engine guard covers?)

Just wondering if the "osolation" or "wobble" could be set in motion by a combination of turbulace, speed and rough road.
hi leadbelly

i posted some of my det's in another post, but the summary of my wobble is
04 nomad 1500 fi
fairing
trunk
new tires front and rear (pirelli night dragon on front, ct on rear)
passing a normal car/truck not semi.
two lane road,

i got in a wobble while accellerating, and ended up in me going down.
