I guess it was my turn (New w/pics)

Went down tonight on my way home from work. Was traveling up a road when traffic stopped in front of me. Applied front brake, hit large manhole cover and the bike went out from under me. Rolled maybe 20 feet, bike slid maybe 50 feet. I would estimate I was doing 35-40 MPH when I hit the asphalt.

Damages -

Me? No too bad, considering. Both elbows skinned up pretty good, skinned knuckles on my left hand, the side I went down on. I was wearing gloves. Helmet skinned up, was a Scorpion EXO-200 3/4 helmet. Destroyed the shield on it. Knees a little skinned. New pair of jeans ruined. Cellphone case detsroyed, but saved my phone.

Bike? The guy in front me, a Mesa PD firearms instructor, and a lady helped me get the bike up on the kickstand. I rolled it to the shoulder and talked to the cop a bit. Bike is rideable. Lots of stuff bent, scraped all to hell. Fairing, both sets of driving lights, Kuryakyn pegs, floorboards, tank is dented. The tourpak appears to not have a mark on it.

I'll update later after I get a better look at my bike. I'll also try to get some pictures. Mama ain't too happy with me right now. ::)

I'm alright, just a little banged up is all.

The damage doesn't look that bad. Both sets of crashbars, both sets of driving lights, fairing, tank, and the handle on the right saddlebag.

Glad to hear you're okay CJ. That is good news. Sorry to hear about it though.

Sh!t happens quick sometimes.

Hope the bike gets fixed before the national.

I hope you heal up quickly. Take it easy for a couple of days. The bike can wait.

CJ, Glad to hear you're ok. Still getting over my wreck. Wish I could say my bike was able to be repaired. However I am enjoying looking at new ones. Take it easy and look forward to pics once you get the bike fixed up.

CJ really sorry to hear this, but it is good that you are not too banged up. I know the feeling looking at your pride and joy all banged up. Hope you get it fixed up as good as new soon.

Dang! Sure sorry to hear about this. However, I'm glad that it wasn't worse.
The important thing is that you weren't hurt badly.

CJ,

Glad you're okay, nothing else matters. I know the feeling of bike going out from under you...

There's always at least two outcomes to everything that happens and the next might be to your favour, a new bike that shines more than the current one, maybe?

Everything is possible...

I'm sure you'll be back in the saddle soon.

Take it easy...

Elvis

I don't think the bike is totaled - from what I could tell, mostly cosmetic damage. We'll see what the adjuster thinks.

Geez CJ, glad to hear you came out of it without serious injury. Must be the weather, the traffic was insane today. Had to use my horn twice and everybody seemed to be cutting in front of me with no warning. I spent more time grabbing the brake than riding.

After the adrenaline wears off I imagine you will be quite sore for the next day or two. Take it easy, at least there is plenty of time to get everything fixed before going to national.

Sorry to hear about the crash Scott but happy to hear that you are just skinned up a bit. You're probably going to be sore for a while. You know, you've been hinting about a new Voyager, Vaquero, or Ultra Classic. Sounds like the door just opened. Take care and heal up quickly.
