A real motorcycle?

A friend has not been on a bike in a number of years and s looking to ride again. He asked if he could take mine around the school parking lot since he has to pass a riding test, I agreed. He did so well I offered to let him take it down the road a ways back to his convenience store and I followed in his truck, a first time offer on my part. When we reached the store a fella, I don't know, told him he should buy a "real motorcycle", and since he saw my friend hand me the bike keys I figure it was obviously my bike. I did not figure he was sharp enough to realize he just insulted my scooter so I did not get upset. So I stated that he could buy a "real motorcycle" or a good one. The fella said he was talking about a "Harley", one octave drop in his voice. I told him I was too. He called me "one of those smart a..es" I grinned real big and strolled into the store. Some times they are such easy targets that I ALMOST feel bad poking at them. Bless their little hearts.
Thanks for your time

There's no shortage id d*kheads in society. Don't take it personally, his mom probably didn't show him enough attention as a child.

A real motorcycle?

The right answer is "This is the motorcycle every Harley wants to be".

A real motorcycle?

Watch out. THose "real motorcycles" are everywhere. I have nothing against Harleys but during my road trip this weekend, I saw well over 500 bikes and only 2 Vulcans and 1 Honda. Everything else was a Harley. Why would you want to be just like everyone else? It makes no sense.

A real motorcycle?

I've heard those comments before and have occassionally been asked if mine was a Harley.

My response is pretty much always the same;

"I didn't buy a Harley because I wanted a bike with a more powerful motor".

I then follow up with, " the Kawasaki has a larger 104 cubic inch engine where as Harleys have a smaller and less powerful 96 cubic inches". Shuts them up every time! ;)

Thanks Bob, I know there is a formula to convert but I don't recall what that is. Do you know the formula you use to convert CC's to Cubic Inches and vise versa?

A real motorcycle?

Back in April one of my clients stopped by and we got to talking about bikes. He has a Harley, but was really interested in the Nomad, so I took him out in the garage and showed it to him.

He ranted and raved how much better it seemed to be than his Harley. He asked me how much I paid for it and when I told him he said " Why didn't you buy a Harley, you could have gotten a used Harley for what you paid for the Nomad new".

I just looked at him for a minute, then he thought about what he said and said "Oh".

He is in love with the Harley image, even tho his seems to have a consistant string of problems and he admits the maintenance on it is costing him an arm and a leg to keep it running.

That's what is known as the "Harley" Mentality. It's not rational ::)
