Don't intend to read all the posts but.................I liked many of Dans's posts but many of his comments were abrasive and shown to be unfeeling since this site can only be communicated through the written word.

Dan always thinks he's right and many times has belittled other opinions. I don't think Dan intentionally insulted people but obviously didn't see his abrasiveness.

And finally I don't think he would've been giving into Trip by apologizing for his abrasiveness and "know it all" attitude, but feel his pride got in the way.

I believe it was the right action by Trip.

Shoot me now Dan's supporters.

There has been enough said on this subject, and everyone should let the matter die out now.

And "no"... what was said about Trip and some others is NOT true. ;)

Dan Lund.... Turned humorous

This is a sad day for Kawanow. We have lost a member with over 4,000 posts. Obviously Dan enjoyed being here, just as many of us enjoyed his videos and input. I'm sure that this was not easy for Trip and on the surface it may have seemed that Dan did little wrong. He hit a nerve and while now it would appear that it was only the tip of the iceberg, it is Dan's responses to being asked to apologize that proves to me that Trip did the right thing.
Courtesy is contagious and treating others as we wish to be treated goes along way to harmony on a forum and in life for that matter.
This is not to say that we all have to agree on everything and it certainly would be a boring place if we did. It is to say that there is plenty of room to state your views and in my opinion, should you offend someone, apologize for offending them and /or the way you worded something, not your point of view. Dan it would seem could not do this.
Kawanow will move on and so will Dan, I sincerely wish him the best of luck.

Nobody wants BD's two cents so I'll throw it in.

Most that know and lots of newbies that don't know remember "Blowndodge's Garage" I was the very first moderator assigned to KawaNOW. It was getting to much for Trip to patrol the boards and since I'm a retired gear head he asked me on numerous times to consider it.

I did with the caveat that there will be some that I rub the wrong way and will complain about me. I was instructed that no such behavior will be tolerated if that happens to me while I was a Moderator.

KawaNOW "Where riding a Nomad is KawaNOW and Forever" is a phrase I coined for the site through a contest we had so I did have some history to this site.

As Todd pointed out we rarely kick people off the site. during my reign as Moderator in "Blowndodge's Garage" I was attacked mercilessly by a group of "forum bandidos" that insisted on posting graphic porn and tell me I was a jerk, a$$hole, idiot, you name it, it came in spades...

We had one gentleman who joined that had been kicked off another site for is disparaging remarks and started going through some of my old post I'd made offering advice in "Blowndodge's Garage" He one by one replied to these old posts and told everyone how wrong I was with my advice.

Digressing some, I'm an ex profession motorcycle drag racer and have participated in Barstow to Vegas runs years ago. Does that make me an expert? I don't claim to be but I have a decent background in motorcycling.

Well I had had enough of this and started challenging that person on a daily basis every time he discredited me. He had other friends on here that PM'd the owner of the site tell him to kick me off as moderator. Since those individuals have left and started another site one could make the argument that their intentions could have been far more than just discrediting me.

the name calling continued and I gave some of it back. I met with the staff of KawaNOW and asked them what they wanted me to do with these individuals that were banding together and was given support to "let them have it Brad". Most of you that know me I'm more than up for the fight!

Soon after this site was threatened with a lawsuit because of "Slander" that I used. Regardless of the fact the the person threatening it doesn't know the definition of slander vs. liable.

Well things didn't work out and I was instructed to stop defending myself with these people in print on the board in my Garage and to just cool it. Whether you would agree with me or not I'd had enough and stepped down as "Blowndodge's Garage" moderator and now just an average Joe.

We don't own this site so we don't make the rules but I'd thought you'd like some in-site to how it's done here. I hold no grudge as I sign in, went to the National Rally, and still enjoy everyone whom is a member.

Either you like it or you don't but I'd thought I'd share some history so you can make a choice to stay or go based on how the site is ran..

As moderator I wrote the Bafflectomy instructions and can tell most of you have really enjoyed that modification. I'm pleased I could help and will continue when I have time.

Brad

Brad is a legend in his own mind. Just having a little fun Brad.

Some good writeups here and I think most support Trip and his decision. I hate to see anyone leave the forum whatever the reason. I just want to see it grow as I really enjoy it.

Hey BD, wasn't it your idea to slice the bread before they put it in the bag?

Dan Lund.... Turned humorous

This is my last post on the Dan subject......REALLY. I was one of a handful of folks to join Trips original website back in 2005. I loved it then and love it now...especially now since I'm in Iraq at the moment. This is a familar place for me to go and shoot the sh*t with folks that have things in common with me and me with them AND are old farts too. I'm amazed at how KAWANOW has grown.
I use this website mostly for information, mostly on my bike, but other things too. I don't like to air my politics in this kind of forum because of things going awry as in the Dan Lund factor.
I alway felt he was a sensationalist and loved to make himself out to be some great motorcyclist. I was the moderator for the riding safety area for awhile but had to step down because of this deployment. While moderator Dan would post his "ideas/experiences" in that section. I didn't like it because I was afraid others might try to go out and duplicate his riding...which was not safe. I am a rider coach for the State of NH and teach the MSF curriculum. I cringed thinking somebody like one of my students meets a "Dan Lund" and tries to follow in his path. It would be disastorous. I spoke with Dan about my issues with his posts and he didn't like what I had to say. He felt he was HELPING other bikers with their riding skills. I DO understand perfectly that there where other things happening in the background. I had no doubt.
My only wish is that Trip had "turned" him off sooner and kept it in the background. I think Trip was giving Dan the benefit of the doubt to right himself.
I still love coming here and still think Trip is awesome for this site.

Thanks.

vin

It was but his original idea of slicing before baking didn't pan out. (no pun intended)
