Eastern Region Rally

I am looking at adding a good portion over 1000+ miles in the saddle on the rally weekend. I've ridden 450 miles each way to Pennsylvania (Virginia Beach to north of Pittsburgh) and back in a 3 day period. I did approximately 980 total miles with the middle day being a rest day. It was my first big trip on my Nomad and I totally loved it. I also learned what extras I was needing.

I did not have highway pegs at the time and I wish I had them. They are installed now. I also added the luggage rack. I am definitely looking at installing the "break-a-way" cruise control for this trip and possibly a pair of auxiliary head lights. Other than a stand up luggage bag for the rear luggage rack, I think I have everything covered.

I am also planning on taking my wife on several early spring rides at a couple of hundred miles each trip to get her prepared for the journey. We are essentiallly a NC border city and enjoy taking rides toward the Outer Banks, Elizabeth City and surounding county areas. Maybe we can meet up and have lunch with some of the NC KawaNow members.

It is going to be over 800 miles for me if we decide to come. I'm thinking at least 2 days both ways. Does that qualify for Iron Butt status?
Well.......maybe we could have a Nomad butt status. ;)

Here, here, I'll eat to that! It will be a closer ride for me than Todd. I haven't seen any other NC Nomadders chime in on the board. Where are you guys?

I've done 165 miles is the longest round trip I've had so far. Of course, I've only had it since the middle of November.

I already have highway pegs on it. I'm looking at adding a tour pack or a luggage rack with a bag; cruise control of some kind, extra lighting is definitely going on soon.

Or maybe a "travel trophy" for furthest distance travelled to attend.

kawgirl...
Thinking about it, but it would be over 2,000 miles round trip from SW Fla. If I can get the time I can take a few days each way. Maybe join up with other riders since I'll be flying solo. Can't commit yet, but considering it. Joe

I'm in West Central Florida, so you could come up to my neck of the woods, then we could head up to Tenn to meet up with another group and roll in to WV as a heard of Nomads!

Thanks for the invite cocha...Longest ride on the Nomad so far (new 11/07) was 175 miles. Will have to work up to a trip like this. Have you given thought to the first leg of the trip or straight through to Tenn? .. Joe

I have to decide if I'm willing to test the "super slab" as they call it or take back roads. Back roads=more time on the road. Tenn from here, depending on where, is a little over 8 hours by car. By bike, don't know.

Just for the record coacha, your Nomad will go just as fast as your car
