We're heading to the Crescent City next week. For those living in and around NOLA, any tips on sights, restaurants, jazz clubs, etc. or other must do's would be appreciated. We're flying in and the way it sounds, a vehicle isn't of a high priority as everything appears to be fairly close to our hotel on the French Quarter. Taxis and public transit will probably work for us.

.."Back In The Day" when the airport was called "Moisant`International"....I always called the city "The Big Easy"..... time's change

I was there before the flood. Everything was old and smelled like mildew. Can't imagine it's gotten any better. :But, have fun.

...Yes..if you are not accustom to it the prevailing breezes will in most cases be pushing "the miasma" (swamp gas) off the Atchafaylia Basin (the "Chafalyia" is the largest swamp in North America) ..and east, into the Big Easy...Stinks like wet-rot, (smells like money to us oil/gas industry types), so be prepared for a smell you wont get used to in a few days stay !
I could smell it up to around 1500 ft when flying over it ! ...(I miss it now)
