Minnesota has one time charge for a sticker that goes on the tonge of the trailer for a trailer this size. Can pull it in any other state I want to.

The province of New Brunswick does also. It needs to be renewed each March 31. You are also required to have a valid inspection sticker.

Yep.... best bet is to get tags.

Hey Roadie, noticed you're in Wimberly, right in the heart of the Hill Country. Wish I was living where you are all the time.

This question rises once in a while on many different forums and the answer is always the same when a LEO posts.

All 50 states recognize the licensing and registration requirements of one's home-state regarding most vehicles, driver's licenses, and insurance (smaller than large commercial). So, if Alabama doesn't require any tags or registration you will be fine in all other states.

A suggestion was offered though... be sure to "fly-right" when in other states, as no tags is a reason for LEO's to pull you over to verify who you are and where you come from.

It was also suggested if you live in a state not requiring tags, to carry along your state's information regarding such language stating so. (It can help the officer sort-out the information when they have references.)

I live 2 minutes from Wisconsin. Wisconsin doesn't require tags... Illinois does. Those pulling trailers from Wisconsin without tags in Illinois have no problems.

Good luck with your trailer and enjoy!

On our trailers the tag is good for life, unless its a tandem axle cargo trailer with a axle rating over about 7000lbs, then it needs to be inspected every year, as well as the vehicle pulling the trailer. But this excludes RV trailers of any size.
