Just back . . .

. . . from riding the Blue Ridge (southern section), the Dragon, and the Cherohala Skyway on my new Vaquero, and wanted to say what a pleasure it all was!

Funny thing: the Vaq seems to be getting better mileage as it gets broken in. I started out at just under 900 miles total on the odometer, and found that I was getting around 38 mpg on the slab on the way south. Almost 2000 miles later -- with LOTS of hard mileage in second gear on some of those North Carolina roads -- I was getting as much as 45 mpg on the slab returning home.

Does this match other Vaquero riders' experience?

Sounds like you are getting great mileage. That is better than my Nomad gets. The best I ever got was 42 on a trip to Texas back in 2009. Lately the best I have gotten on a 100 mile trip was 38.

Glad you had a great ride.

Mileage

Yea I noticed that with my Voyager as the engine gets broken in the mileage increases. I was out for a nice back road ride Friday and got 46.6. Right around 5600 miles now.

Kett, I wish you had been with us. (I rode with Gregstur; do you know him?)

Loving the bike so far. I was nervous about trading in the Nomad, but the Vaq is even better.

What rally/rallies will I see you at this season? Love to give you a test ride.

I tested a Vaquero last June, it is the first bike in 11 years that would make my day.
I would trade my Nomad for it.

Yeah, Deacon, the roads were great down there. Greg's pix don't do them justice.
