final drive ratio.

Not Nomad related but it is Kawasaki related.
Lets say you have a belt drive motorcycle that runs 3500 rpm's at 60 mph.
If you change both pulleys and get an 11 % reduction in final drive ratio, what would your rpm's then be at 60 mph ?

Would the math be, 3500 minus 11% = 3115 ?

The answer is the same 3115.
Not a very significant drop in rpm for $530

I believe that is a considerable drop. it's within 100 RPM of a gear shift.

I get 3115rpm also. thats almost 400 rpm change. I, almost did that with my 900LT but got the new bike before I did that. Are you looking at Scootworks? have read those numbers before. go for a ride with the 900 and drop down 350 rpm to get an idea of the change.

Yeah, I was lookin at the Scoot Works kit for my wife's 900LT.
I didn't think dropping the rpm to 3115 from 3500 was that big a deal.
My Nomad is running 2300 rpm at 65.
Not sure if it is worth $530.
I will have her go 60 then slow till the rpm is 3100 and see what she thinks.

Do remember that it is just not the top end that will change. Every gear will be taller including first, so taking off and low speed maneuvering will be different.

Yeah, I told her that.
That may be good. It may keep her from running over me when taking off from stops.

That is right. I changed the front and rear sprockets on my Kaw 800 Drifter. Dont remember how many teath on each but the 800 had plenty of power to handle the change and I thought it was much better comeing up the gears. did not have a tach but on the freeway in 5th gear it was much better. That is why I was going to put the scoot works gears on my 900 LT but traded the bike before I did it.

I used to change gearing back and forth on my dirt bikes all the time. This probably doesn't help much but as I remember the rule of thumb was, one tooth difference on the front equaled around 5 teeth on the rear.
