And it's gone

Over the past two years riding has become more and more challenging, mostly because of the changes in my wife's and my career, and our growing family, which we now have two kids under 5.

Last week I posted my motorcycle for sale on Facebook, and after just one day of it being posted I had several inquires for both the bike as a whole, and its accessories. Today I met with new owners at the bank and finalized the sale.

Motorcycling has played a huge identifying part of my life for the past 8 years. On Nomads (owned four) I have motorcycled all 49 reachable states, and probably around 175K miles. The memories and friendships forged while motorcycling will be something I'll hold onto dearly, but at this time I will be focusing on creating new, more family-focused memories, and growing my business.

I appreciate the role that VBA has played in creating these memories, and hope to hang around here and as often as I can.

Most of us here have made the same decision when we had young families. I'm sure that in 15-20 years you will be getting another bike like we all did.

What Steve said. I took about 20 years off of riding to raise my family, and back in '05 I saw the bike I still have now, and that ole itch started again. I kept my motorcycle license all those years knowing one day I would need them again.
Jared, it was great to meet you in Eureka Springs. I wish you and your family all the best, and hope all goes as planed.

Yup, did it too. Took off years while there were little ones to care for. We will see you when they go to college and you have empty nest syndrome!
:)

Best wishes and God speed to you and yours!
Be safe, love and hug those kids,

Smokier

Like other folks have said, you may well be riding again in 20 years. I also took off for a time even thought I didn't have any kids (got paranoid).

Good for you for being responsible to your family. I did the same thing and got back in when they were grown up. Good luck with all your dreams and thanks for all you have done for the VBA.

Best wishes, Jared. Like Ring and others have said, a time will come and it will make sense again. Enjoy the time with the family. Those are special years.

Wow, you've done a lot of great riding. Great pics. As many others have said, I had a long break without riding until the kids left home. Good luck with career and family.
