My commute to work is 28 miles one way. This morning, I took the superslab and suited up with boots, chaps, mesh armored jacket, armored leather gloves (just the knuckles), and skid lid. After work, when it's about 900+ degrees, I take the backroads and wear boots, 1/2 helmet, and sometimes chaps over my work clothes. Rain is a different story of course, but on a normal Summer afternoon in armpit Georgia, MY opinion is that there are simply too many stop lights to consider ATGATT. Not happening here.

All I need is my trusty vest, and gloves. The rest I'll wear my normal outfit, white t shirt, and jeans. Maybe some work boots. Plenty of coverage for a hot summer day. Nothing quite like feeling the breeze blow straight through you.

Typically not a helmet guy, let those that ride decide. With that said I live in central Florida and not just the heat but the humidity are horrible in the summer, so I've been know to ride in shorts and a tee, but draw the line at flip flops. Funny thing is I've noticed a several older men ( I live near the largest retirement communities in Florida) riding with them, most on there Goldwing's. I own all the right gear but I enjoy riding comfortable, and comfortable I will be, at least until I have to ride on the military bases, then I'm all in on the safety gear because they will not let me in otherwise. if it was the law that I had to wear it then...?

It was a bit less here. May be 88˚ if that. Temps should be down a bit by the end of the week. Oh, and I wear jacket, modular helmet and gloves all the time, even it's 119˚. I usually wear boots too, unless I am going to the gym or Safeway.

I ride according to the weather as far as what I wear, if its hot running shoes, T shirt and jeans. If its cold jacket, gloves and so on, I use a 3/4 helmet with a shield. If its going to happen it's going to happen and there's nothing anyone can do about it so I figure I'm going to go and have fun with my day

So if you go to Wal Mart or Rite Aid you wear the boots?

They don't have Rite Aid here, so that's not hard to avoid.

Must be nice guys... It's freezing right now where I am. Makes it even colder thinking about hot riding weather..

As a general statement, it's true.

In my opinion safety is a must. I always where a full face helmet. It's a matter of what is comfortable as far as leathers, boots, gloves, etc. when it's hot outside. I ride with a few guys who where chaps and leather during the summer but bitch about how uncomfortable they are. To me riding the Kawi is about having fun and enjoying myself. I don't ever think about wrecking because I don't ever plan on it. I'm not saying it won't happen but Im not gonna bundle up in leather in july to leave my house and say "when I wreck I'll be glad I don't get road rash." We just have to do our best everyday and ride with our eyes wide open because cars and trucks seem to think we only need part of our lane and they own the other half. I've witnessed it too many time. Winter is nearly here and I'm already waiting for spring because I know the good rides are nearly over with for a few months. I rode about 250 miles yesterday and it was 36 when I left and only got up to about 50. A little chilly in the morning but nearly perfect conditions in the afternoon. I wore glove, helmet, jacket and hoodie, and jeans.

There are textile overpants that will protect better than jeans and breath, where as chaps don't and chaps won't help if you slide on your ass or crotch.
