November 13th Vicksburg

On November 13th we will have a meet & greet in Vicksburg since Bobby knows the area a lot better than I do if he will I would like for him to plan where to meet and eat and what to see. So if you can go lets us know here that your are coming and how many so we know what to expect. This may be the last time we are able to meet up this year so lets try and make it a big event.

As of right now, Jim, you can count me in. Am I allowed to bring my " trail boss " with me, or is this just the guys ?

All I know about Vicksburg is where the casinos are, the river and the military park. I haven't been through the park since I was a kid so it will be new to me also. I usually just run over there on I-20 but I'm sure there are other ways to go depending on where you are coming from. Did ya'll want to do backroads or run the interstate? Only place to eat that I'm familiar with is the buffet at the casinos. I have only eaten at the Rainbow buffet.

Frank you can bring anyone you want to Frank tell us what you know about Vicksburg places to eat and ride.

I can check with my son in law about eating places and/or things to do. He's from Vicksburg, and his parents still live there. Military Park sounds good to me. As for rides, I have no idea.

Old Port Gibson Road? You can search it on the internet. It's popular with the sport bike riders. Must be a curvy road. I think it starts around Raymond and goes down to Port Gibson then you can take 61 back up to Vicksburg. The military park should take a couple of hours depending on how many stops you do to look around. I think it's 16 miles long.

I want to go to the military park in Vicksburg and we could go to Jamie's favorite restaurant The Old Country Store just a little south of Port Gibson and then maybe check out the Grand Gulf Military park. Just some suggestions.

The Old Country Store is also one of my restaurants.Be prepared to eat or the old man that owns it will give you hell.I can eat but the old man told me I better bring my "A"game the next time I come in.

Aieeeeeee! Great timing! I just finished up with the GWRRA Rally in Tupelo I had to supervise and I'm free as a bird the 13th of November. The 'great timing' part is that I'm scheduled for complete knee surgery Nov. 18th! You can count me in for the Vicksburg ride, Jim!

The Old Port Gibson Road can be picked up at Utica, MS, off highway 18; Port Gibson, MS off US Hiway 61 and south of Vicksburg, MS off the Ferry road. This is a well maintained lightly traveled two lane highway and its full of very nice sweepers rather than a lot of curves like the Red Bluff road between Foxworth and Monticello. However, at the Crossroads going back into the Ferry Road to V'Burg, the road follows the trail of a drunk snake!
