bending aluminum

Im looking at building a bracket to house all my stuff gps. cell phone, mp3. My question is can ya bend aluminum 90 degrees

bending aluminum

The aluminum key that came with my Venture trunk this week was bent 90 degrees, no problem during transit.
The problem was going back straight. Of course like bent levers, it broke trying to go back straight.

bending aluminum

depends on how it was made. Cast or injected aluminum will break. Solid aluminum will bend. Property is close to steel in that regard. Cast is when you break a piece of aluminum and see tons of microscopic bubbles inside. Almost all made for retail aluminum parts are not solid unfortunately which sounds like it won't work for your application unless you have a source for solid aluminum.

bending aluminum

This is a Cig Lighter bracket made from .090 sheet T6061 aluminum. It bent very easy on a brake. I've heard that by flash heating aluminum with a torch you can bent it even easier.

Thanks guys. Im looking at getting some at Lowes or Home Depot. Is the stuff there ok to bend.

bending aluminum

I have bent the sheets or what ever you buy at Lowes or Home Depot. Not a problem. Having been in the HVAC business, I have bent a lot of aluminum.
