Has anyone ordered from this site:

It looks like the same stuff leathup has but it's cheaper. I'm looking for a multi-weather jacket. From what I have seen in the local stores, a mesh is just for warm weather but a textile or leather could be multi-use. Any ideas?

Have you considered buying all three types and then reselling what you don't want on eBay for a mere fraction of what you paid?

Talking about what clothes works best can be like asking what kind of oil to use.... in Arizona, there's about two months out of the year you can wear leather without feeling like you're in a oven, and I would imagine you see some mighty warm days where you're at, too.

I would consider carefully the quality and longevity of products from leatherup. Hard to imagine there's a place where you could spend less... I bought a pair of chaps from them, and less than a year later the belt is all but tore completely off the waistline due to inferior quality stitching.

But, I'm sure someone has bought a $70.00 pair of chaps that has lasted for 50,000 miles and they still look like new, so I'll shut up. :)

As is the case with most things, you get what you pay for. Well, OK, maybe not HD...

If you want ONE jacket you can wear year 'round, living in Mississippi, I don't think leather would be my choice.

I agree with Bill, I don't think there's one jacket for all seasons, unless summer and winter temps don't swing much where you're at. In Mississippi, I'll bet there is a large variation in temps. In the summer when it's hot and humid, you'd want mesh if you feel the need to wear a jacket. In the cooler months, you need something with insulation. Maybe they make a mesh jacket with a removable insulated liner, not just a rain liner.

Also, a piece of advice - buy the best you can afford. There's a lot of second-rate, cheap gear out there.

I use a mesh jacket made by Mossi that was on sale in a Victory m/c store. It has a zip-out lining that's warm in the cool weather; good to about 40 degrees or so. I use it without the liner in the summer; until it gets around 85 -90. Then I take my chances with no jacket. It's my 3rd year with it and it still looks good.
I agree with the other posters - you get what you pay for.

I certainly can't get by with only one jacket, our weather changes so much over the seasons that it would be impossible to have only one. I go from a light windbreaker to leather, to a nylon snowmobile pants and jacket for the really cool days.

I talked to a guy at work who bought a leather jacket from Leatherup and he was very happy with it (but he rides a Yamaha, LOL). I tried on a mesh Tourmaster and liked it. It had the insulated liner and a rain liner. I didn't just want to jump on a online "good deal" without being able to try one on first. For the most part, looks like you need to go a size bigger on all brands I tried. It looks like some good jackets are out there for about $150 but I can't see why some are about $300 or more. Are those that much better? It can get to the 100's in the summer and teens in the winter. It may average 40's through the winter. (30's in the morning - 50's in the day during the Winter).

It is true that you can pay a price for apparel partly due to the 'name'. (Such as the Harley Davidson chaps that are made in China. :)) There are a number of brands that many would probably say are a decent value- meaning they cost more than leatherup, less than Fox Creek Leather, and have a build quality somewhere in between. Tourmaster being one of them, in my opinion.

We've already established that you don't want to take any advice too seriously from someone that rides a Yamaha, so that rules out internet purchases on leatherup.com. Actually, I was satisfied with my chaps when I got them too, but the real test of a garment's fit, finish, and quality is a year or two and several thousand miles down the road.

Another point to consider is if you're going to be strutting around in all this textile-style gear, you may very well be mistaken for a BMW rider when not close to your bike. Only you can decide if that's a price you're willing to pay...

I'm just north of you, Memphis, and I weare a Tourmaster Flex jacket pretty much year round. I like it because it's a 4 season jacket. The newer version (Flex 2) is improved with easier removal of layers and better ability to mix/match layers. Even with full mesh only, it's still almost too hot on those really hot summer days. I've worn it in 98 degree Mississippi delta heat with 99.9% humidity...it wasn't the most comfortable thing, but I was protected.

I use a Fieldsheer Mesh (Mach 7...$79) and if it gets chilly I just slip my very large waterproof windbreaker over it...stops the air flow through the jacket.....this way I am set from about 50 degrees to about 90 degrees. Anything over 90 and I just wear a T-Shirt....dumb.

I've bought 4 pieces of outerwear, leather jacket, med and lightweight jackets, leather vest all from Harley Davidson dealers over the years.
All came off the "closeout" or discounted rack.
That's the only place I look for m/c clothes. Like some others. I want to try it on.
Say what you want about Harley Davidson but they do offer great clothes (not necessarily better bikes).....just expensive.

All the items I bought were at least 50% off.....the leather jacket retailed (overpriced) for 450.00, I paid 150.00. Vest was 80.00. Don't remember the prices on the other two jackets, but both were under 100.00
