I actually hate eBay, but buy a fair bit there. Actually had a guy e-mail me saying I did not play fair, bidding late in the auction and he had no chance to up his bid. I have lost so many auctions in the last few seconds when I had been bidding since the beginning, but that is how the game is played. I now bid very late (<30sec left) and bid my max. If no one else bids maybe I get a real good deal, otherwise, I don't get caught in the bidding war and pay too much.

That is a great deal!!!! Glad someone from here got them at that price. Sure beats the $290 price at Cruiser Customizing :)

On the gunbroker.com site they do bidding a little different.
You can't snipe the item at the last second like on Ebay.
If someone bids in the last 15 min. of an auction the aution resets for an additional 15 min. This keeps going till there are no more bids.

That is cool...I hate the sniping personally, but the only way to 'survive' on eBay.

I guess that everybody that buys on ebay has been sniped at lest once. The Ideal of adding 15 min seems like a good ideal, I wonder if ebay has thought about doing it.

Basically yes...told him it should be lesson to him....bid your max and bid late, very late. He went on about how ebay never used to be like this. I was wondering what he was on...it has always been like that!!!

I got mine from the same guy on Ebay a few months ago. I paid $175 including shipping. I've seen them go for over $200 and as low as $129. I also got the bottom rails from him. I had to remove them when I installed my hitch. I used the washers that came with the rails and they are already cracking. I'll have to go with the faucet washers and ream the holes a little larger. Wished I would have gotten better washers in the beginning.

I was on the fence on using the provided washers....I no longer am, I am going with better washers right away when I get around to doing them.

My philosophy is to bid what I'd be happy to get the item for, and let the chips fall where they may. I sell a lot of stuff there, but don't end up winning much. The way I see it, the fact that you "won" only means that you were willing to pay more than anyone else for the thing. What kinda of victory is that? :)

I agree I just approach it from the angle that I know how much I am willing to pay...if near the end, it is higher than my target amount, I move on, if not, I will bid my amount and see what happens....win or lose, there is almost always another auction going on. :)

Chris, thanks for the closeup of the attachment point and the heads up on the roofing washers.
I bought by rails on ebay a little over a month ago, but have had a hard time preparing myself mentally to do surgery on Lucille (havent had time to devote to the project either). Unless I get called in to work a vacancy I'm off until next Friday, so after this weekend I'll take the bags off and bolt them together and do the deal.
