Where do you cut (and how much) for a HD batwing?
I got Joes brackets today and the inner and outer fairings should be here sometime this week. No idea where or how much to cut on the inner. Gadgets site isn't much help as the guy with the directions there was fabbing up his own bracket so it was a bit of trial and error.
Where do you cut and how much? Pictures would be nice. (For some reason, I do better when I can see it.) TIA

I have no idea, but here's some advice: measure twice, cut once!

I've always heard you should cut to fit!

Thats something you need to figure out by careful measurement. It is a trial and error type of project, just be certain before you start cutting.

I'd be on the safer side and measure at least 3 times. :)

Once you have all the parts in hand you will be able to see what you need to do
Im sure you will do fine What are you planing on using to cut the plastic with? if you dont have the right power tools try a hacksaw blade. get one of the inline blade holders or do like me and just tape up one end of the blade to form a handle The teeth are fine enough not to grab and catch on the plastic yet the blade will cut clean lines. power tools tend to melt the plastic as much as cut it

I figured on using my trusty Dremel on low speed. I might try a hacksaw. Whatever gives me the best cut. I'll tape it off prior so I can follow the tape line. I'll probably have to cut a couple times as I'll cut less than I need the first time just in case. I can always remove more material. Tough to put it back.

By the looks of Bobby's pics, that should be all the cutting required.

It's basically remove the rounded part so it will fit flat on the brackets. I left enough on the left side so I could still install the cigarette lighter in the original harley mounting hole.
This picture shows a line where I cut it. Also, the raised tab on the right of the picture had to be ground down flat for it to fit my bracket.
