Strobe, I did a search to find out what NMNEA is. No luck. What is it?

Sorry, I got an extra letter in there...should be NMEA 2.0. It may also be listed as NMEA 0183 v. 2.0. Fixed the original post.

Here is link with some info, this is what Streets and Trips put out.

I just got a Mio Moov 300 with mount for less than $100 off Ebay and it has a widescreen format. In my truck I have a Mio C220 and it is a great little unit. I have been happy with the MIO GPS units and they are better priced than any other name brand.

Mio Moov does this through the supplied software, and it is free. Less than $100 on ebay can get you the Mio Moov 300 and a handlebar mount delivered. :)

What made you choose the 550? Who'd you buy from, and what did it set you back? Fry's electronics has both the 500 and 550 in the store for $267

Thanks for the input :)

I bought the Nuvi 550 from Amazon.com for $257.99 (I hadn't thought of Fry's. We have 2 stores here, but I avoid them unless there's no other source). I bought the Nuvi because it is a current model - not discontinued, it is waterproof, it had the features I want, and the price was right. It will work fine for me. I also bought a travel charger and a direct wire pigtail, so I can power it on the bike. I did already have a 12v outlet on my bike, but wanted to reserve that for my Zune.

How does the Mio Moov 300 work on your bike. I have a Mio c230 for my car and when I put it on the bike you couldn't see the screen unless it was cloudy or dark. A little sunshine washed the screen out where it couldn't be seen. I really like my Mio c230, price is right, has great features, user friendly. etc. Just can't use it on the bike.

I've been using a TomTom Rider 1 for a couple of years and love it. Some one asked if you can plan a route on the computer and download it to the rider and the answer is yes. TomTom home is a computer based program that works with the tomtom rider. I have been very pleased. On the tt2 with the provided bluetooth connection, I didn't like that at all. I boughta Cardo system and wound up sending it back as I could never make it work properly. Just my bad experience.

I ordered a Tom Tom 2 and before I even opened the package I got a bad review on it from a member here I pm'd. So I packed it up and ordered a Zumo 550. Waiting on it to arrive. No mail on the holiday weekend you know :-/

That is what I am finding out. That might replace my C220 in the truck. I might have to go with the Rider2 or something along those lines. I couldn't see $hit with it on my ride on Friday. :(

Glare is a problem with my TT-1 as well and I haven't a clue what one can do to rectify the problem. I did have charging problems with my TT-1 initially but after a year of back and forth with the firm, they replaced the entire TT-1. While I was not pleased with the back and forth, getting a new GPS made the wait worthwhile. Also, TomTom is constantly updating the software in the Rider and some of the improvements are great. Since I don't know what other systems do, I really can't compare, but my TT-1 is better than the factory GPS in my Audi A-6.

Does anyone have a Garmin Nuvi 265 WT? I can get one of these with my accumulated points in our workplace safety reward program. I've read that they are waterproof but just wondering how it would stand up to the vibration on a bike.

I bought the Garmin 755WT off amazon for like $275. Its wide screen has current traffic/road blocs, construction, lane assist, About everything i wanted for not more than the lower number models. Works great. I bought it for the truck so far.

TC: did it hurt to release that much $$ for the Zumo bro??? :-)

I have a Lowrance XOG and I love it. It is water resistant, has built in mp3 player. Has picture viewer, can take up to 2 gig memory card, and works well in high light conditions. (As well as any other I guess) Amazon has them for $189.00 and in my opinion that is money well spent. It is the least expensive water resistant GPS I have been able to find. It also has as I said built in MP3, that coupled with my Küryakyn (SP) speakers and I have a nice little system. Another thing about this unit is that it is fully programmable to show whatever information you want. Speed, altitude, direction, time to destination, distance to destination, just about everything you could think of in a nav unit can be displayed on the screen. I personally like it better than any other on the market. I just wish they made one in a 3.5 inch screen. For the money, you can't go wrong. The only bad thing is the battery sucks. It may hold a charge for about 30 minutes at best, but I have it plugged in all the time anyhow so for me it isnt a big deal.

Lowrance XOG for this guy also. Just had to learn how to use all the features, I got mine at Cabalas on sale I think for $159.
But I have arguments with the lady in the GPS ;)

But it took about 9 months to get the handle bar mount.
