How do I remove the ECU?

I need some help. I'm not home yet and I want to get my ECU off to Ivan before I get home in a couple weeks. I asked my son to remove it for me, first thing he asked.... How. Talked him through getting the seat off and removing the battery before winter, so now it's just removing the ecu. Is it as easy as removing a bolt, pulling it out and removing the cable connections?

It really is that simple and there are a bunch of videos out there. Just google Kawasaki Voyager 1700 ECU removal and they will pop right up.

ecu removal

I just came home from dropping mine off at the post office. once the battery is out you just lift the hole metal clip out with the ecu and the other smaller control box attached . I then pulled the 2 plugs out of the ecu and left the other one with the 3 plugs still connected. I removed the metal clip to get at the rubber boot where the two boxs are then pushing from the bottom of the rubber boot with my thumbs I got the ecu out. it helps if you warm that boot up with a hair dryer or some thing to get the ecu out. now the waiting begins....

You have a great son there. Not afraid to ask. Much respect for him. All should go well. And welcome Home soon.

Yeah, He was a Cavalry Scout in the Army and isn't afraid to learn something new as long as there are instructions. Especially with dad's bike.
