Thanks Greg for removing the bad posts, I will try to do the same for you.

I've always said that HD's feel more "boney" than many other bikes; which often translates into a "smaller" feel.

I still like the water-cooled concept of the Nomads over air-cooled HD's. It's not really a bid deal so much around here except in the peak-summer days where the heat is near the 90's.

Glad to hear you had a good ride.

Greg

They are also 50% more expensive.

How are the North Central members holding up?

I got a ride in New Years Day, 4 miles to gas station and 4 miles back to barn. Was a wee bit to cold for anything more... at least for me, it was about 23. Since then I just go our and start it and think about how much longer before riding starts as it idles.

I have the help lined up to get mine out of the shed and back into the garage this weekend so I can start on the debaffle and trunk mounts. I have quite a bit of snow in front of the shed so I will clear with the blower and get help to push it.

It's tooooooo cold to work on my bike! No heat available in my garage. Don't slip pushing the bike OP. Maybe you should start it and use some of its power to help.

I will have a total of 5 guys to help me move it. I really don't want to start it up because I was shamefully lazy and didn't change the oil before I parked it. I would hate to stir up all that dirt now that it has settled into the pan. Besides my tire doesn't have enought tread left to be of any assistance anyway. Ha ha.
It is happening for sure on Saturday though.

How are the North Central members holding up?

I just got back a couple hours ago from a snowmobile trip to St. Germain/Eagle River Wisconsin area for a couple days.

-6 degrees the first day; and was around 15 degrees the second. Got cold a bit the first day; second was perfect.

Had a blast. Great trails up in that area. A good way to help get through the winter without the motorcycle.

I rode on Saturday. It hit near 50. I put on 30 miles just to get a little charge to the battery.

I hear it is supposed to be nice this weekend (nice is a relative term though) so I may get the bike out for a bit. :-)

Ponch: You've got... well... you know since you rode in that weather. Wow!

Scion0: Good to see you posting again. I know the weather is supposed to get to 40 degrees up here this weekend. I suppose you temps will be a bit warmer -- maybe worth going around the block just to charge the battery, as Ponch said. I might just try it myself.

OP: Glad to hear you got the bike out of the shed safely... was a bit worried about that for you with all the snow you have on the ground. I've got to ask you though... March? Man... March still seems cold to me up here and I know you are further north. I usually don't start until mid May; maybe April. Guess I am a wimp.

PS: forgot to mention in my "snowmobile" post that I crashed my friend's snowmobile. Just got the cost of the damage today: $985 for a plastic cowling. I was going across a four-lane highway and gave it too much power. When I got across the other side the snow covered blacktop didn't give me any turning traction; nor stopping traction. The result: I hit a guard rail doing about 10 MPH. The only damage was the plastic engine cowling -- no damage otherwise. I told my friend this was going to cost me around $1,000 to $1,500. Unfortunately I wasn't too far off. I figure there is around $100 in plastic and manufacturing cost involved; but the price is still what it is. Artic Cat knows how to make money. Oh well.

Dude if it is ABS plastic you can fix it yourself with a little plastic cement.

Oh and temps up here usually start to hang in the 40 - 50 range around mid March. We usually get one real good blizzard in early March then things clear up pretty fast. It isn't everyday riding weather because that is when it starts to rain but I average half the week. I will be riding alot less this year as I am putting my "bye-bye fat ass" plan into action. I have a bike (bicycle) trail a block from my house that runs almost the whole way to my office so I am going to pedal my ass to work as often as possible to try to get in better shape. I sit all day at work and the midsection is getting a little soggy. It works out to about 10 miles round trip each day so I should be able to slim up pretty well by the end of summer.
