You know Mitch... I can kind-of see the point to some degree. It wasn't so much what the students were singing, but rather the fact they were singing.

That area is almost considered a shrine to Lincoln, whereby the term "contemplative-area" is applied...

I see your point, however if everyone were allowed to sing (whatever they wanted to sing); then the monument would eventually become a "demonstration-area"; whereby the whole purpose of the monument would be lost (in my opinion) to those who go to see it.

...just my two-cents ;) :)

I agree with your take Greg, but I'm afraid it won't be long before singing the National Anthem won't be allowed anywhere on government property.

Seems odd to me, and the rebel in me says good. A little civil disobedience can be a good thing. I have about had it with this PC crap. Seems like it is just fine for any foriegner to do what he please in our country and the Feds back them up, while we who live here have family in the Mil, and other Ameican causes are left with out and the Govt who is against us and it self.

Good points Mac. I do agree with you. Have to agree with Greg that there should be no demonstrations and such allowed in that area.

Amazing is all I can say to where we choose to follow the letter of the law and ignore it otherwise.

Spot on!! Our laws and rules and regs are enforced with a left leaning politically correct approach and it is causing chaos.

Thousands of people need to go there and burst out in song just to protest.

Well for starters I don't see singing the National Anthem inside the USA anywhere except maybe a real library any sort of demonstration. I could envision that in a court of law too, the singing not the not singing.

We have a Govt filled to max with corruption, tax evaders and fools and this singing is a problem?

The National X-Mass Tree was desecrated with the likes of Chairman Maoe, a porn starlett, and all sorts of other vugarites to see as ornaments? and That wasn't a demonstration? I know the chosen one didn't do that himself, but he failed to stop it.

It wasn't a demonstration when the friggin Presdient himself failed to hold his hand over his heart at a Flag raising ceremony?

But so it *IS* when school kids come to DC, and before they are age to serve in the MIL?

About now i am fit to be usin' some fine sailor language.

I've been to D.C. twice, and have visited the monuments. I don't recall seeing any signs stating to keep quiet in a certain area. Could have missed them, I suppose. I think the guard should have explained the law, if he didn't. And I'm not sure why they didn't move over and start over, if they had been informed properly. Are we all so paranoid, that school children can't sing the National Anthem

I have been there many times, even rolling thunder events where there is no peace and quiet anywhere for miles and miles.

In the quite times, there are foreigners everywhere, and street bums with a brown paper bags either drinking in the open or sleeping it off. Not just a few either. At these same times women weep at the Wall, men cry, and cops tell em to move along.

I figure Lincoln might like the singing since he's been dead since 65' and the tune was pretty new back then.

Some of us just might live to be branded politcal criminal, at the rate things are going.

Just about everyone in here.

When I visited the the Wall I was moved to tears. I guess I'd be going to jail if some cop told me to move along. :(" title="" border="0"/>

The wall is a striking momunment no doubt about it. A very feeling sort of place for many. I am not sure you would go to jail, since yer fiesty enough to kick some cop butt.
