Need more storage space

Planning another cross country trip this fall on my Vaquero. I'd like some more storage space. Any trunk ideas (or anything else innovative) that you guys have done to make some more room. I can get by with the 2 bags on the sides but if possible I want some more room.
Post pics if you have.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Not a Vaquero, but this is how mine looks on a cross country trip.

Didn't surprise me, the saddle bags are for Cliff's stuff, the touring trunk and trailer are for Diana's stuff

Actually Tim, I get one saddlebag, the trunk is for rain gear and "what-not" stuff, the rest is Diana's.

Before I picked up a used Bushtec trailer I used Chucksters trailer hitch along with his cooler carrier, http://www.chucksterscustoms.com/Hom...ber=TH-VAQ1700 ,.
Because the Brake/tail/turn lights are blocked I built a light stand that plugs into the cooler carrier center support, sorry no picture of it.

One thing I did find out is that although the added lights are LED they would cause the cruise control to not work, so needed to disconnect the bike brake light. I used 2 way bullet connectors , http://www.cycleterminal.com/bullet-terminals.html P/N BTD35, so it was easy to do when I added the trailer wiring harness.

Another option is to UPS stuff to your destinations or send general delivery to a post office in a town you will be visiting. Enjoy your trip there are so many great places to see in this country.

Mike - do you ride 2 up?

I agree w/ Ponch. It took me awhile to learn how to pack efficiently but I now only need my saddle bags and a bag to throw over the seat if I am traveling long distance.

I leave the top case (trunk) at home. Roll up (vs. folding) my packed clothes, when I get off the bike for the day get in the shower with my shirt/BVD'S on and lather up. Hang them up to dry. I can get by with very few clothes this way.

If I am traveling 2 up I am screwed. Might as well take my truck to haul that much.

Really...it's like just how much stuff do we really have to pack for a bike trip...mine has the fire and steel backrest and luggage rack on it and on the rack, goes my T-bag touring bag which holds plenty. And the Vaquero holds around 9 gallons of capacity on the bags. I can also get a tent and sleeping bag on the Mustang touring seat pillion along with air mattress and pump, camp stove, and mess kit, room for food, and other necessities and pull off anywhere, and live for a week on the road. It really doesn't become a problem until you have a passenger. Then it might have to be a hotel or get a trailer. I run solo most of the time.

It's not the trips you have to be concerned with when going with the wives or GF, it's all the souvenirs they collect along the way.
