I will definitely give him a call. Powersports in Decatur offered me $6200. for my '08 with 5200 miles. *$$HOLES !!
I have bought two new bikes from them since '01 and set people to them. I am going to try to sell mine out right and then start looking for a deal. I am wanting $9500 for mine the way it sits, I think its a good deal. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

No, I was thinking that the dealer was not offering you enough. Tell him, $7200.00 without the fairing. $7700.00 with the fairing.
I'm sure you are aware. A dealer is never going to give you retail for a trade in. They have a profit margin to meet. Selling it on your own would be wise. ;)

If trade-in value is $6,400 (assumed to be in excellent condition); then the dealer was only $200 light on his offer.
Not too many dealers are going to give much more than trade-in value. There isn't as much of a mark-up on new bikes as some might think. A guy can make more money on good, clean used bikes they buy at a low price than new bikes most of the time. The fairing probably wasn't a factor in his calculations either. You're better off to take it off when you trade or sell it from what everyone else says.

dealers attitudes
There are both types of dealers in my area....guess what type I dealt with? It is not an attitude that is primarily a problem with a certain manufactured bike ...it is all about their location in regards to proximity of other dealers and the thought that you will not travel or research for a good deal or service. If anyone is reading this post from my area is reading this, they will confirm that the Kawasaki dealer closest to me will not deal even on 2011 models after the 2012 models come out,so I went 25 miles up the road and got treated awesome and was able to save nearly 3000 dollars. My local Harly daelership is a nice bunch, but even they will tell you that you can get a better deal at one of the smaller outlying dealerships .

I bought my Vaquero at World of power sports got a great deal. Went in told them what I wanted on the bike how much a month and how many yrs. Traded in my raider had it just the way I wanted it so they knew I didn't have to trade. Maybe that helped I know it took for ever for them to make my deal but they did. Not very fond of the service dept. or parts.

I took the Harley trunk and other things off my Nomad when I traded it in, a dealer couldn't care less about any additions as they don't factor them in, take off what you can, you will make more selling them individually. JM2C
