Are you starting in GA? Motels or camping?

These are all pretty large states, with much to see in each. What general route are you considering?

Not sure if we are trailering the bikes to Denver, then riding, or riding all the way from GA/SC (6000 vs. 3000 miles). This is the tentative route...moteling it or bumming rooms off friends.
Leaving Denver
1 night in Dubois, WY
2 nights in Wapiti /Cody, WY
1 night in Missoula, MT
1 night in Kalispell, MT
1 night in Lewiston, MT
1 night in Twin Falls, ID
1 night in Vernal, UT

I love Hwy 200 from Missoula to Lake Ponderei, HWY 12 in Montana through Lolo Pass, Hwy 2 east of Kalispell.

Hwy 93 in Idaho is supposed to be nice.

Moon Time Tavern in Couer D Alene Idaho has good food.

Western Montana is great riding.

Hwy 80/30 across southern Wyoming is boring scenery and lots of big truck traffic.

Twin Falls area is dry and not much to see IMHO.

Have fun!

We live in Plains, MT which is located on Hwy 200 between Missoula and Kalispell. We know Western MT and Northern Idaho very well. If we can be of any help or you need info on our area, please don't hesitate to contact us.

While in Colorado you have got to see Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak. Nothing in Denver to see. Unless you have friends or relatives there.

We are meeting up with friends in Denver that are planning the ride. Trailering the bikes to Denver. Maybe spot riding some on the way back to Georgia.

Once in Idaho....find your way to the town of Arco, then ride Hwy 93 north all the way to Missoula, MT. That stretch of roadway is one of the very best motorcycle roads you will ever ride! Hwy 12 between Orofino, ID and Lolo. MT (10 miles south of Missoula) is awesome too...but I would suggest riding that one from east to west. From the summit of Lolo Pass it is almost 100 miles all downhill through lazy 50mph sweeping curves to Orofino....very mezmerizing actually.

I lived in Colorado Springs but haven't been out west since I retired from the Army. I used to drive an 18 wheeler all through the west. It will be an enjoyable trip for you.

I would reccomend hwy 12 from missoula mt. to lewiston id. try to ride early or not on the weekend if you can avoid it . Traffic can be a real battle to a nice ride on this road. This is not a challenging ride but relaxed sweepers for the most part and gorgeous views.

I like the gentle sweepers. Not a hard core twisties type rider. Want to enjoy the scenery instead of attacking the curves.

This is the road for you then!!!!!!!!! This is one of my favorite rides. The road is good but the scenery is Great. There is also the ultimate motorcycle sign it shows the "S" for curves followed by "next 57 miles" watch for it coming from misoula heading west
