Ww2 monument

I am doing the Distinguished Gentlemens Ride for the 3rd year on sunday.A bunch of blokes calling themselves the Windsor Monarch's,who have ridden down for it,are camping nearby me.So i went looking for them, and found this. It's a memorial to all the American,Canadian, and Polish airmen, who flew from the airfields in the Newforest. If anyone has any doubt about the gratitude of the British people to those brave young men.Take a look at this..

Very cool to see those memorials Mick. My Dad while not an airman, spent the war years in England and fighting in Brussels as well as Holland. He came back with head wounds a Glass eye and a British war bride.

I doubt your father is still about for me to thank mate. But we have a bit of history here abouts. And although i give some shit to the Yanks,we do appreciate the sacrificies the poor bastards made.
The glass eye must have been hard to live with

Nope, my dad is gone. Also he was not a yank. Canadian army.
As for the glass eye, it never slowed him down much. His hobby was cars and detailing them, maybe having one eye helped.

The one eye served him good
He never had to content with the Yanks shooting his arse off from a sly angle.Or did he.?

I don't think so Mick. Pretty sure he was overseas before the US got involved in the war.

Yeah a bit late but when they did show up it turn the war around in favor of the allies.

Our local Kawi dealer is also a Triumph dealer too so they are going to have a Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride as well...and then when they get back us hoodlums will go for a ride to the Bridges of Madison County!
