NW riders going to Custer?

I've been off forum for a couple of months so here goes... we got aobut 7 weeks until the National. Last time I heard there were 4 or 5 of us fromt he Pudget Sound area heading that way. Plans were to head out of the Sound on Saturday, the 13th, Overnight in Missoula, then on to Billings on Sunday and ride into Custer on Monday.

A hard day's ride to Missoula so we'll be super slabbing it. Back roads from Missoula to Billings and some more two lane into Custer.

As far as I know, there are two of us from the Everett area heading out. Do we want to designate a place on say, I-90 to meet up on Saturday morning? Say near Issiquah?

Let's see, there's:

Kris
Me
Duke (maybe)
who else?

BigJohn,
I was thinking we could take Hwy 2 over Stevens Pass to Spokane. I know it is slower.....but much more scenic and lots of little towns to pit stop in if (when) we need. From Spokane we can hit I-90 and jet hard to Missoula. You'll have to get up before 10:00 am..... ....but you can do it!

There is a Park and Ride lot on the north side of Hwy 2 at the west edge of the Monroe (Evergreen) Fairgrounds. I thought maybe we could rally the troops there about 9:00 am...what troops there are anyways....what do ya think?

I am planning on hitting 90 from 18 and just eating up the miles. I did scenic from Missoula home last year and it was 12 hours or so. I hope to get an early (0800) start so as to have some rest time at the hotel.

I'm up for anything....so maybe we should just plan to meet in the parking lot at Snoqualmie Falls. That way all four of us (Me, John, Charlie and Duke) can ride together.....which would be a better plan than trying to meet up in Spokane....and yes....we could just eat up miles that way. How does that sound....??

That sounds like a weener to me. As much as I like 2, it is a pretty slow ride. and heading out across the farm lands isn't the most enjoyable, for me. A fast day on Saturday with a good nights rest in Missoula and we can take our own sweet time to Billings then to Custer.

Closer to the freeway than the falls is the parking lot of the outlet malls at the next exit. I think there is also a fuel up with coffee so we could all start from there topped off.

That's cool....but a detailed explanation would be helpful as I'm not very familiar with that area....

It is the exit past the falls exit. I'll get the specific info. My wife has offered to drive a support vehicle that day but only as far as the Coach outlet store. This may cost me

I had occasion to go to Snoqualmie on business today. I ran up to the next exit and turned left over the freeway. There is a Chevron station and a McDonald's just to the right once over the freeway. We could meet at the McDonald's, then grab some fuel and go from there....

Ya know...you could head over towards Cody, up over Beartooth , then up towards Billings and on in with us on Monday. That'd be a real interesting ride.
