Riding the four corners

A buddy and I are looking at riding the four corners of the US within the next three years. I realize I am planning way ahead, but it seems like it would be a good idea to plan ahead for a trip this big. I'm not planning on registering on any site to claim that I did it. We're just going to ride. We were thinking about stopping every couple of weeks and taking three or four days to relax and possibly having our wives fly to wherever we are and spend time together. Then they'll fly back and we'll hit the road again.

My question is: Has anyone here done this ride? Any pointers or ideas? Just looking for suggestions at this point.

Riding the four corners

When you get to the upper left corner....wear your rain gear... .

Plan this part of your trip to be in July or August and you will be fine with weather. Any other time of year could be wet....or could be beautiful! Look us up when you get here!

Riding the four corners

When you said "four corners" I was thinking you meant the "Four Corners National Monument", where Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico meet up.

I get it now. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Never done it....but my brother has done 49 of 50 states. Still lacks Alaska.

Good luck with your trip....I wish I had the time to do something like that.

Ditto!!!

Yride,
I would look for ideas from those who have done it the stupid way...people like iron butt and stuff. They probably have some good ideas, but ignore the whole idea of trying to do it as fast as you can. Relax and actually enjoy it.

There are some great things to see in this diverse country of ours. Take time and plan what you would like to see and the best time to see it. For instance, like Kris said, see the Northwest in the (late) summer and then head over to the Northeast to see the colors changing. Head down to Key West before the weather gets too bad, stoping in DC, and some other historic towns (Charleston, SC) before you get down there. Finally, head down I-10 to L.A. and then back up the West Coast (Hwy 101) to finish out the trip of a lifetime.

I only wish that I could join you and look forward to seeing your plans and photos.
Rich

Riding the four corners

There is quite a bit of information on the Four Corners site. Of course they want it done within a time frame. Still there is some interesting information and testimonies to help with planning.

Then I found another site with an individual that was doing it just to take pictures and see things. I think he was even riding a Nomad. Joel Pearlish

Maybe when I retire something like this will be possible. Rather not do it on a fixed time. I think it would be much more fun to do it a a leisurely pace and have fun.

Riding the four corners

Just so happens the AMA Grand Tour Series includes a USA Four Corners Tour. The four coners are considered to be:San Ysidro, CA; Blaine, WA; Madawaska, ME; and Key West, Florida. So whatever else you do, hit those four.

I have wanted to do a four corners tour for years. I just don't have the time. Perhaps in the not too distant future. Enjoy yourselves.
