What type of Oil do you use?

Having worked for Chevron for 30 years, I use Delo 15/40. Every 10,000 miles, we would take a sample and send it to Fabor Lab. for an analysis, like a complete blood test. Never in driving for them, did we ever loose an engine from oil. I believe that no engine works harder then a diesel, and I have been using Delo in the bike for 34,000 miles, and change it every 3000 miles. Our summer heat here is llike Vegas, so 15/40 fits the bill.

Red Cap is now Gold cap... or Grey cap, depending on the viscosity.

MY BAD! Thanks for the correction.

Old habits.

What type of Oil do you use?

TrueSpirit,
I have a friend that was a chemical engineer for Shell for many years. He has since retired and rides motorcycles. He has told me in the past that we could use our oil longer than we do. His opinion has always been that we could change our oil at 4000 or even 4500 miles instead of 3000. Since you have worked for Chevron for many years, what do you think?

What type of Oil do you use?

So other than a dealership, where can you buy this oil?

Quote:
I've tried them all from Kaw oil to Rotella... Syn and non-syn... The best oil I have found for my 05' Nomad with 36K on the clock is 20-50... Shifts like a dream, runs cooler, fan hardley ever kicks on when running 20-50... Addes bonus is the wifes Sporty runs 20-50 so I only gotta one flavor out on the road... YMMV
