When to shift

After a good warm up, leaving work tonight I pushed the Nomad to the limiter in 2nd and it did kick in around 70 mph. It just stuttered a bit and recovered as soon as I untwisted it. I'm not looking to make a race bike out of the Nomad but I've always felt it's a good idea to know just what a machine is capable of.
As far as making a pass at the track, a by run just to get that time slip to keep in the saddle bag would be fun. Don't have to make a pro stock burn out or launch. Just roll off the line run it through the gears and check the time slip against the speedo and such. Just havin' fun. But the race season is getting short around here might have to wait until spring.
