Was just watching Super Bikes a t.v show and they were on the salt flats doing land speed records. the only helmets that are approved for this kind of racing is Snell approved helmets. Guess this concludes our debate.

Why would you say it concludes the debate?? The question was about what type of modular helmet was recommended not whether it was satifactory. Dont think I would want to take my bike on to Salt Lake Flats, or in my own country on Pendine Sands where many world records were set (long ago!)

I use a Schuberth C2, wife uses Shoei Multitec. Both excellent fits, but they are for different shaped heads, mine doesnt fit her, vice versa!!! Hers is much lighter than mine for which I am envious, and if it had fitted i would have been very covetous, as it doesn't ...... no problem!

There is a discussion about the helmets and their uses on webbikeworld, interesting.

Yeh I didn't think we had a debate going either. Thanks for the info everyone. I wonder why the super bikes would only allow Snell approved?

William "Pete" Snell was an amateur auto racer. He died needlessly in a racing event in 1956 when his then state-of- the-art helmet utterly failed to protect him. In memory of Pete a number of his friends, colleagues and fellow racers formed the Snell Memorial Foundation to try to improve helmet design and capabilities, and to encourage the development and use of truly protective helmets.

I read somewhere that a Snell approved helmet can't be stripped off in an accident. I know my 1/2 & 3/4 helmets can both be forced off my head if I pull from the back.

I just went through EMT traing this summer and we used my full face HJC as part of a bike accident scenario and it wasn't easy but did come off.
