Darkside tires

Nomad Darkside owners. I am looking to going darkside soon, and I want your input. If you don't mind:

1. What tire are you running
2. What are the specs
3. How is it working out? Any issues at certain speeds or conditions? What PSI do you run?
4. Where did you get it/how much

I am looking for something that will not raise the seat height. Currently riding on a worn Avon 180/70-16, so I would not mind the slightly lower height of stock. Thinking my best bet is a 195/60-16 in some brand.

Darkside tires

1. Dunlop SP5000 Symmetrical

2. 195/60R/16

3. I've put about 17,000 miles since Jul 2009 on it with no issues. My only complaint is that it is a little shorter than the 180/70/16 motorcycle tire it replaced. I have to be very careful crossing gutters or my Cobra pipes will scrape.

4. www.tirerack.com. Don't remember, but I think around $125.

Was looking at tires-easy.com today, tire was allot cheaper, but they got a horrible BBB rating of F. Thought I better pay more and go to tirerack.

1. Dunlop SP5000

2. 195/60R/16

3. It's working great! No problems so far (23,000 miles)

4. I can't remember where I bought it, but it was the best deal at the time. I paid $77.

Continental Vanco 2, 195/65-16. Purchased it from tire-easy.com for $150 with shipping. Running it at around 30 psi. No real issues with it at any speed.

Likes, it is about the same size tire as the 160/80 so the speedo is still only off 5% as compared to the shorter tires.

As far as tire-easy, no issue with them on the tire.

Darkside tires

Dunlop SP5000 195/60-R16
10,000 miles no uneven wear issues, handles well, lower profile makes pulling the loaded trailer on steep inclines easier but makes it much easier to scrape the new pipes in a hard lean riding 2 up. Was running 26 psi but went up to 29 for less sidewall flex when hitting bumps or dips in curves.
Purchased at Treaddepot.com for about $120. May look for a taller profile upon replacement. Overall very satisfied with the DS experience and the tire.

Since the stock tires are a 170/70-16 and the SP5000 are a 195/60-16. Are those not almost identical in height. I have the stockers at 119mm and the SP5000 at 117mm. Is everyone basing the height off the 180/70 or am I calculating something wrong? A car tire does seem to sit more flat versus the rounded bottom of a MC tire.

In my case, the SP5000 replaced a 180/70/16 Avon Cobra, so that's what I was basing my height difference on. I consider the 180's "stock" since they are easier to find than 170's.

It's done. Let me say, it will be good getting the extra mileage because this job along with the swing arm greasing is a big one. I am glad it's done. I have not balanced yet, because dyna beads are late, but rode it and it rides fine. Seems to ride about the same. Just every hard curve, I am thinking, hold baby. Put about 50 miles on it so far.

I am at 35 PSI now. Was thinking of dropping to 30PSI to avoid early wear down the middle.
