Trip,

A lot of airlines offer assistance / reduced fairs for situations like this where immediate family members need to travel to attend services.

Perhaps you can get word out to the family, or better yet, if your in a close enough situation you might be able to make some preliminary inquiries for them.

Thanks for the info. Yeah my flight from NC is going to be $460 . Not sure what my cousin's bill will be from Idaho. I hate to think about it.

Yes, be sure and ask for the "Bereavement" rate fare. Many airlines offer it.

In times of emergency when you have to fly for a family funeral, or to see a terminally ill relative, shopping around for airfares is probably the last thing you want to think about. Many airlines have an answer for this - the bereavement fare, or compassionate fare, which is offered to family members traveling for a death in the family, or imminent death.
