Saddlesore out of OKC
Well since the Navy went and screwed up my plans....again I am thinking of doing the Saddlesore 1000 within the next 2 months. Plan is to go from OKC to KC to St. Louis back down to OKC. Something like 1,091 in ~18 hours so probably closer to 19-20 with gas and food/breaks. I am doing this one way or the other but figured if someone comes along it is always easier, so anyone interested? It will be super slab riding all the way so no expectations otherwise.

Dewey, I've thought about doing that also. I had a route mapped from Tulsa - St. Louis - Memphis - Tulsa. It was about the same mileage you have. I could be really interested in doing this with you.
It's been a LONG time since I've put any mileage under my butt, though. I'll have to give it some thought. My longest trip worth talking about in the last couple years has only been about 275 miles. :(

I thought about south to dallas-jackson, ms up to memphis...but I REALLY hate 40 from memphis. Anything through MO is better than 40 through TN/AR.

I might be interested in joining in. I rode 40 from OKC to the national rally in NC last year. It wasn't all that bad.

Let us know when you have a date nailed down. Would be fun to get a little group together to make the run.

If it were me, I'd stay away from Dallas. Way too much traffic down there. North would be your best bet.

No joke. I'm down in the DFW area every once in a while. Not an area you want to try to accomplish this. Place is a freakin traffic zoo.

Yeah I tried about 5 different routes and the one I posted seems to be the best.

So, when are looking at making the attempt? I'm guessing you'll leave on a Saturday morning (3-4am)? That would put you back home around midnight (hopefully).

Not sure of the date yet, sometime in Sept for sure especially if we get a group I will do a little more planning. But it seems like it might be best if we do an en route meet up somewhere on I-35 probably around Guthrie or something.
Hey why don't we plan on the 15th for now? (Pending missus approval mind you ;) )
