Lost our Great Nephew

Our great nephew Mike lost his life yesterday 10.27.14 when he hit a brown delivery truck that turned left in front of him. Mike was only 19 and road a Yamaha crotch rocket. Mike really did live to ride. He was a great big brother to his little brothers. He was never afraid to change diapers and feed the young ones, something you don't always see a teenage boy doing.

I've been thinking of selling our Nomad for a while as the wife can't ride much without it hurting her back. This may help me make up mind. It's one thing to get back on after you go down, I've done that after a left turner got me. But this is just about more than this old man can take. Maybe it's time to step away from it and not take the chance of causing my family any more grief. Time will tell I guess.

Sorry for your loss.
You said."Mike really did live to ride"
Sounds like he lived his life on his terms.
Do you really think he would want you to do less?
Whatever you decide, Good Luck

Very sorry to hear about your loss. Maybe his sacrifice will be another watch out lesson to us all. I've talked about this with my wife, but she knows how my eyes light up when I'm heading out for a "ride".

I'm so sorry to hear about this. It's so sad when they go so young. I love riding my Nomad so much I explained it all to my wife and dad that it's God who decides when we go, and when he makes that decision I'd rather go out on it than step out in front of a bus.

God has his reasons for taking our loved ones so early. I feel it would be imposable for us to comprehend even if he told us. I look at it as complex as me trying to explain to my dog why I don't want him in the road.

I pray for the Lord to ease the pain on Mike's family of his untimely passing.

Sad news. My condolences for your loss. To me, it seems you would honor his life, his passion for riding and his memory if you kept riding - Godspeed brother.

Like all the rest, I'm very sorry to hear of Mike's passing.
I read all the comments above and it reaffirms why I hang around here.
I have just one message to add.
'Loved ones never die, when thought of each day'. R.I.P. Mike.

A good friend in Colorado said the same put it up for the winter and see what spring brings. That may be what I'll do. It's just not the same since my wife can't ride we used to spend so much time together on the bike.
