Low mileage 08 nomad

Just saw a Craigslist ad for a 1 owner 2008 nomad with 1542 miles on it. With Mustang seats & other extras. He is asking $7250 doubt he gets it

He may not get it, but it sounds like a good deal none the less.

I didn't think the 2005-2008 nomads had any differences besides paint. I'm curious, whats different?

A buddy bought an 06 Nomad about a month back from a shop, it only had 1500 miles on it. I told him that he should have the dealer change the tires because they we're the OEM and they were 8 years old. The dealer wouldn't do it but he bought the bike anyway. I told him probably all the fluids have not been changed since new either and he should do that NOW. . Sometimes a low mileage bike isn't as great as a bike with some miles on it. I paid $6000 for my 07 with 6700 miles on it when I bought it from the original owner about 3 months back. I changed the tires, spark plugs, checked the air filter and changed all the fluids. Now I know that has all been done I feel better.

You are absolutely right. Riding on 8 year old tires is a good way to get hurt.

I am not 100% sure, but early year bikes tend to get some better stuff which tends to degrade over time with Ma kawi. I think later Nomad got lesser grade floor boards and little things like that changed. Logo badges went from being quite nice to being sort of bland.

Mac I think you are usually spot on, but for example the two instances you gave have exactly the same part number for 2005 and 2008...

I paid $7,200 for my 08 with 12,000 miles on it and thought it was a good deal.

Mac, I would bet my 08 and your 06 sitting side by side are the same bike with different paint

I agree with that. Caper had an 06 and I still have my 08. We looked them over and other than the difference in color they were the same except his frame was gloss black and mine was a flat to satin black.

I did notice in the 09 model change kawa did cheapen up the badges like Mac mentioned and did away with the chrome cover on the forks behind the headlight.

I am looking at a 2008 17 K miles for 7 grand OBO
It needs a litlle TLC, needs tires, some cosmetic touch up etc
I would not pay more than 5 grand for this bike.

If it needs tires and other work and I knew it, I wouldn't buy for 7K either.
Mine needed nothing I knew of and I think 7200 was a good deal but to each their own.
The only person I have to make happy when buying a bike is me.

Yes, according to the bike "bluebook" This bike would sell at a dealer in "primo" condition for 7 grand. Private party price would be negotiable.....
Trade in value is around 5 grand.

I still think there is chrome bottom covers and black painted on fold up floor boards. Maybe some one did something and went to paint. I did. My Nacell is powder coated flat black because I hated the glare, it still appears to be OEM

The chrome cover on mine is now flat black as well. The glare when the sun was overhead really hurt my eyes.
