Old dog, new machine.

Greetings, just upgraded from 900 classic to 16 voyager. Just getting to know her. Enjoyed the forum for years gaining lots of great ideas on upgrades hope to do the same here. Installed tender and noticed a grey connector on top of battery. Didnt notice it in manual. Any idea what it is? Will post pics later. Gary

I was unable 2 upload the jpeg 4 some reason. The connector is on the brakes side of bike right on top of the battery snapped into a black piece of metal. On my 900 i think this was the rear lights i used to connect my run, turn from kurykan

If harness goes into grommet in fender. manual identifies it as rear sub harness. Could be rear output sensor for ABS. Service manual vague. Some unused accessory connectors have rubber plugs though.

Hello and Welcome.

Possibly the connector for rear speakers on the Voyager Trunk that are available from the dealer, or a diagnostic connector, or neither.

Rear speaker connectors are on the left side, in a bundle of 4 connectors that include communication. LFINO. Will look when I get home from work.

Welcome from Northern California!

My '15 Voyager has something plugged into that, maybe because I have a California model bike.

All set. Turns out it was pretty important. Fot taillight, blinkers, trunk light and license plate. Didnt see other end till i took off side cover. Pulled it up and snapped it in and voila. Must leave disconnected at factory.

Is this a new bike? What a pre-delivery inspection!

I was thinking the same thing, if this is true I wouldn't go back to them for any service.

Thx 4 replies. Rode bike home 80 miles, didn't notice until my so took bike for ride and noticed no lights on back. I feel lucky made it home ok with no turn signals and brake lights. On another note manual says up to 500 miles 2 500 r/min (rpm) Does this mean not to exceed 2,500 rpm?

I was just told to not high rev it, and not to keep it set at any solid RPMs for overly long periods. 500 miles goes fast!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations!
What was said "I was just told to not high rev it, and not to keep it set at any solid RPMs for overly long periods. 500 miles goes fast!" is true.
Vary the speed and engine RPMs for the first few hundred miles. Help break the engine in.
As for the wiring connector, looks like someone didn't follow the check list! :)
When I brought the '15 home, the right muffler was loose; clamps and mounting bolts under the bag. First wash and wipe down revealed this to me. Give her a good twice over. Part of the 600 mile service is nut and bolt check...
Cup of coffee and the allen wrench and metric sockets, take an hour get to know her...

Ride safe,
Smokier
