Hooking the little eyelet onto carb SUCKS. Big fingers in a small space just doesnt cut it. FINALLY got it about 20 minutes ago. That's what I have been doing all day. I am done for the day I will try and tackle wiring tomorrow. Dreading that and want to take my time on it. I hate electrical.

Appreciate the measurements bro, looks like I may have to cut my toolbox up like you did yours. My little eyelet, and hopefully most of the wiring is already in place from the vacuum type I already have installed. Looking forward to your completed project, then I'll probably do this myself (after you get the bugs worked out of course).

That is a short time there good buddy. My brother said "F it, you try" after about 20 minutes. It took me 30 minutes to get mine hooked. Be sure you crimp it closed good or you'll get a nice surprise of throttle lock...I know from experience. Nothing like being on an off ramp thinking it is going to decel and the dang thing just keeps on going faster, lol.

The directions say this is the variable speed sensor wire. This doesn't get hooked up according to gadgets so I am wondering does the cruise control only work off the coil (tach)?

I ended up using the two grey wires on my bike. I mounted a pair of magnets on my rear disc hoping to make the cruise hold its speed better, it barely made a difference if any.
I'll lose 10mph when climbing a long grade on the highway. When your on level road it works pretty good, it stays within a couple mph.

Remember that Gadget's directions are for the vacuum style cruise (don't know if it matters with the new style you have), and yes the vacuum style does work off of 1 coil hookup.

Hmmm if that's the case it's not much better than my throttle lock then?

I had the same model on my Nomad and it worked as well as the cruise control on my car. Ring got a defective unit, I think.

I got the vacuum style on nine now,and when it was working, the speed would only vary by 1or 2 mph, and i live and ride in the mountains.

What do you mean "when it was working"? It isn't working anymore?

From what Ive heard from others, it seems that the cruise works best on the 1600's

I think both style units are still very similar, the electric model just has a servo connecting the cable rather than a vacum unit.

Getting ready to throw this thing against a wall. I HATE ELECTRICAL

I have LEDs on rear brake lights so need to install a relay to make it all work. Off to auto parts store. Still dont know if i am doing this right lol keep expecting bike to spontaneous combust under me.

After spending better part of today trying to figure it out I broke down and paid someone $50 an hour for 4 hours to wire this thing. It still doesn't work. I have power to the actuator and I have power tot he control switch but its not doing anything. Unsure if I am going to go any further with this. I may break down and buy the vacuum one. I figured this one would be easier but not sure what else I can do to make this thing work.

Mother was put in hospital tonight and looks like she has to have a heart valve replacement surgery so I wont be messing with this for a few days at least.
