Dual fire?

Bill; What they mean by wasted spark is that Both Coils fire at the same time, one cyl is a TDC and the other is at BTC, when one coils fires both plugs at BTC it is referred to as a wasted spark since its not on a power stroke.

Dual fire?

Just like Cliff said. Left coil fires the front cylinder and the right fires the rear cylinder.
Here is the parts diagram .

And I think that is happening or else these HD tachs would read half rpms when connected to one coil.

Dual fire?

If you have a "dual fire" tach hooked to a single fire system, it'll read 1/2 the RPMs
If you have a "single fire" tach hooked to a dual fire system, it'll read twice the RPMs
If you have a "dual fire" tach hooked to a dual fire system, it'll read the correct RPMs
If you have a "single fire" tach hooked to a single fire system, it'll read the correct RPMs
My tach is a single fire tach, and it reads correct hooked to one or the other of the coils. doesn't matter which coil, as long as it is just one of them.

Ah, didn't know that. There are several ways to hook that up in theory. I don't 'go there' till I have too.

I haven't looked in the book to see the stagger either for the pistons. I had the idea they were like a 650 bonnie both up and or both down at the same time. I guess that isn't the way of it either.

I just know what's what if I need to get it fixed, and I don't fix what ain't broke

Dual fire?

I got here late but since I went out to the garage and looked I'm going to add my 2 cents.
My right coil fires the rear cylinder and my left coil fires the front cylinder.
And now I have one more usless post in my post count.

Dual fire?

I know what the meaning of life is...

Once, the first year of 3 living in a tee pee, a job I had was care taking at a camp ground in Md. There was a Dead Concert somewhere near by, and 2 dead heads showed up real late at night after the office was closed.

I met these 2 birds, and sat in there car tasting whiskey and smokin a little of their wild woods land weeds

With my long hair and beard the mistook me for a guru, and asked the very question "What's the meaning of life?"

My reply was instant, and the Meaning of life is prove you exisit.

Used to be with 39 cents you could get a cup of coffee too.
