Strange coolant spewing
About three weeks after changing the coolant in my '07 with 44K miles, I was in a parade going about 2 mph and suddenly started spewing coolant out of my overflow hose. I pulled off and checked things out - the fan was not running. I pulled the fuse and it was OK so I put it back in and the fan started running - no further problems. I topped up the coolant after we got home and have riddden quite a bit since with no trouble. Has anybody encountered this before? I suspect corrosion on the fuse but I'm not a mechanic.

That was an easy fix.I would change the fuse just to be on the safe side.

You could have just had a air pocket somewhere in the system that caused it to blow out. If it doesn't do it again your fine, if it does Id probably change the thermostat.

Same thing happened to Trip's Nomad in Antlers. Blowing coolant out of the overflow jug. I think he has since had it checked by the dealer and they couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.

Mine did that at Biketoberfest. When my brother and I worked on it the following weekend, we found that there was a ton of air in the system...from when the dealership changed an upper hose for me a couple weeks before. Check that too because if it has air in the system, it will continue to spew like Old Faithful until you purge the system.

I'm with Ring and Coach A on this one. Enough air in the system will impede circulation and prevent the fan from coming on if the temp sensor is not immersed in liquid.

I'm thinkin' a paint job might fix the problem. :) The reason I suspect corrosion on the fuse or fuse holder is that I finished the parade on the hot day at way too darn slow of a speed without any more coolent barfing out. I did remove the tank and top up the coolant after getting home.
